Clean Bar Box is a new subscription that sends you a new selection of handmade bar soap every month. I love bar soap and pretty much use it exclusively now (no more shower gels for me!) so I was excited to check out this box.
All of their soaps are totally free of animal products, parabens, lauryl sulfate, petroleum products, and preservatives. Each monthly box includes a variety of scents that are chosen to reflect the current season.
3 different subscription plans are available: The Large Clean Bar Box ($19.99 monthly) includes two full 5-ounce bars and two 2.5 ounce mini bars. The Large Clean Bar Box Every Other Month has the same contents as a regular large box, but is sent every other month for $19.99. The Four Bar Sampler Box ($13.99 monthly) includes four 2.5-ounce mini bars — more than enough for a month’s worth of use. All boxes are shipped free.
Let’s see what’s in the May Clean Bar Box!
The box was sent via Priority mail and I could smell the fragrant soaps before it was even unsealed.
A peek inside — soap in a sea of squigglies!
I received the “Large” Clean Bar Box for May. The scents chosen this month were to “remind us of May’s floral vibrancy”.
African Violet – Almost all of their soaps contain a blend of olive oil, coconut oil, soybean oil, corn oil, hemp oil, organic shea butter, water, lye, and fragrance. The scent of this bar is very floral and quite strong. It smells nice, but I almost wish it wasn’t as strong as it is. They use fragrance oils, which is fine, but I think I’m used to the more subtler scents of natural essential oils. Oh — I wasn’t sure what the “pieces” in this bar were, so I looked at their shop and they’re actually bits of juniper berries. Never would have guessed that.
Honeysuckle – Oooh! This one is so pretty. I do wish the coloring was naturally derived, but there are a lot worse things lurking in more conventional soap products, so not a huge deal. This has a nice, spring-like floral scent and is infused with real rose petals.
Cherry Almond – I think this bar is my favorite. It has a warm cherry scent, that when combined with the ground oats kinda makes me wanna eat it. Mmm!
White Tea Mint – This bar is a lot less “sweet-smelling” than the others. It has a nice, refreshing scent with a hint of mint. Perfect to use on those upcoming hot summer days.
I love bar soaps, so obviously I enjoyed this Clean Bar Box. The size of the large bars was impressive — one bar alone would probably last me a month. They also smelled incredible, though I do wish they used naturally derived scents and coloring. Ah well, can’t have everything. 😉Browse more Soap, Bath, and Spa Boxes in my Subscription Box Directory
