*As of December 2015, Citrus Lane is no longer in business. If you’re looking for an alternative, bluum is a great choice. — You can see my reviews of them here. With bluum, you can choose your own products and build your own box. They feature the same great brands, plus you can save $10 on your first month with coupon code “MRVA286CCE“.*
My Citrus Lane box never showed the right tracking info this month, so I had no idea when (or if) I would receive it. After seeing box after box being reviewed by other bloggers, I finally discovered my un-trackable friend sitting on our doorstep yesterday afternoon. Welcome home, buddy!
If you don’t already know, Citrus Lane is a monthly subscription for babies/kids (aged newborn-5). It’s $25/month (cheaper with longer subs) and includes a nice assortment of toys, books, snacks, toiletries, etc. Sometimes they even include a gift for mom. (Not this month. Boo.)
The theme for December is “making memories” and my box is geared towards a 17-month old girl.
“I Took the Moon for a Walk” Book – I was surprised to see a paperback book this month. Citrus Lane has always sent board books for my girls (which I’d prefer). They’re definitely not ready for tearable pages yet, so I hope this isn’t the end of board books for us. Anywhooo… This does look like a pretty cute book. It’s about a little boy’s journey with the moon and all of the neat things he discovers about nighttime. (Amazon Price: $7.19)
Handprint Art Kit from Pearhead – (Sorry about the poor photo quality… I’m not too good with winter’s lack of day-/natural light. Ugh!) This is definitely my favorite item this month. I love keepsake-y things, so this is perfect. The kit comes with the canvas (duh), non-toxic blue and pink paint, a tray, and a brush. The info card says that if you make a mistake, you can just rinse the wet paint off, blot it dry, and try again. Awesome! I think I’m going to try putting the girls’ hands together to form a heart. Awww. Well, if they cooperate… (Good thing I can rinse it off!) (Amazon Price: $29.65 for similar)
Melissa & Doug Rainbow Stacker – We have a few stackers already, but none that are wooden (which is what this one is). This is a nice, smaller sized one and the pieces seem pretty sturdy. I noticed some of the reviews on Amazon said that the paint tends to chip off, so I’ll keep an eye on that. So far, so good though. (Amazon Price: $8.27)
As you can see, the stacker didn’t stay “stacked” for very long. 😉
Episencial Snuggly Lotion – I’ve tried a ton of products from this brand, thanks to sub boxes. Totally not complaining though. This is good stuff: It’s 100% natural, cruelty free/vegan, gluten-free, allergy tested, made in the USA, etc. See? Good stuff. 🙂 (Amazon Price: roughly $5.20 for this 3.4 oz size)
Although there were only 4 products this month, I was still pretty happy with my Citrus Lane box. Everything will get used and I’m totally excited to do the canvas art. All totaled, the items came to roughly $50.31. Granted, the canvas isn’t the same exact one as on Amazon (I think this one’s a Citrus Lane exclusive), but it’s basically the same thing. Either way, I feel that I definitely got my money’s worth, with a value way over the $25 cost of the box.
For a short time (until 12/31/13!), new members can save $10 on their first box. Just click here and use the promo code “TAKETEN” at checkout! 🙂
No Evie, that is NOT a donut.
