DoodleBug Busy Bags time! — The theme for July’s “bag” was “Animal Science: Mammals & Fish”!
If you’re new to them, DoodleBug Busy Bags is a fun subscription for little ones from Kidable Adventures (the company behind Little Thinker Box). Bags are aimed at children ages 3 through 9 and contain all of the materials needed to complete 4 to 8 fun crafts. Each bag will focus on a different theme, often relating to upcoming holidays or seasons. Monthly subscriptions are $15.99 and include free shipping.
Let’s see what’s in the July 2016 DoodleBug Busy Bag!
As usual, all of the crafts were shipped in a padded envelope and sealed in a ziplock bag.
All of the crafts were listed on the 2-sided info sheet, along with photos and tips on how to complete each one. There were also a few fun facts about mammals and fish.
Lion & Tiger Puzzles – A cute set of wooden puzzles for your child to color with the 3 included markers. Package includes both a lion and a tiger.
Chloe had fun coloring her puzzles and liked the “kitty” the most. 😉
I’m not sure why both animals have a color block thing going on, but I kinda dig it.
Lion Face Kit – An easy craft that involved glueing all of the foam shapes together to form a fun lion face puppet. Doodlebug Busy Bags provided a sheet of glue dots to avoid the need for actual glue. (Yay!)
Finishing up the final step: Drawing on the whiskers!
A face only a mamma lion could love? 😉
Fish Sand Art Magnet Craft Kit – Your little one can make a cool sand art fish using the included adhesive-backed fish shape and packets of colored sand. It was super hot on the day we did our crafts and had a ton of fans going, so I figured a project involving loose sand would probably be best saved for another time. 😉
Clown Fish Sea Anemone Pop-Up Craft Kit – Another easy foam craft that involved sticking the pieces together using already attached adhesive strips. The clown fish is to be placed on the wooden stick and pushed through the scene so he can “swim” around.
The last step was to personalize the craft with your name. Gotta love a 3 year old’s attempt at writing letters. She actually didn’t do too bad! 🙂
Yep, looks like “CHLOE” to me. 😉
Magic Color Scratch Fish Ornaments – Using the provided plastic stick, your child can scratch colorful designs into the fish and then hang them up with the enclosed string.
Scratch, scratch, scratch…
Psychedelic fishies!
Mosaic Monkey & Elephant Kits – Two different mosaic art kits were included — a monkey and an elephant. Each kit included self-adhesive colored squares that your kiddo can apply to the numbered grid to complete the pictures. Since these say they’re best for ages 6 and up, I decided to save them for when the girls get a little older.
Under the Sea Sticker Scene – Everyone loves stickers! A sheet of colorful fish and other sea creatures were provided for decorating the “under the sea” background.
She told me that those starfish were “holding hands”. Aww.
That’s one seriously crowded sea!
Elephant Headband Craft Kit – An easy to make elephant headband using self adhesive backed foam pieces.
Putting the inner ears(?) in place.
I’m not sure if we did something wrong or what… But yeah, she’s basically blinded by the elephant’s trunk. Ah well, still cute. 😉
We had a lot of fun with this month’s DoodleBug Busy Bag! Animals are always a hit with my kids, so they really enjoyed doing all of these crafts. We can’t wait to see what August’s bag will bring! 🙂
