Fair Trade Friday is a subscription that delivers high quality fair trade items to your door every month.
They offer 3 different options: The Fair Trade Friday Box (delivered monthly), the One-Time box, and the Earring of the Month club box. Whichever one you choose, you can be assured that all items included are handmade by artisans around the world who are paid a fair wage for the work they do.
Each monthly Fair Trade Friday box will include 3-4 items ranging anywhere from organic soap, to accessories, coffee, jewelry items, and more. Subscriptions are $31.99/month. (I should also note that Fair Trade Friday is a ministry of Mercy House.)
Let’s see what’s in my August 2015 Fair Trade Friday box!
My “box” was actually shipped in a large padded envelope via priority mail.
All of the items were tucked inside of a pretty cloth bag, whose purchase helps provide meals for those in need.
3 Cords Chevron Bag – This pretty pink, white, and gray chevron bag was handcrafted in Haiti. It’s made with 100% cotton and seems very sturdy. A nice, practical bag to use as a clutch, for makeup storage, etc.
Rafiki Wire Wrap Bracelet – This is definitely my favorite item in the box! I’m not much of a bracelet wearer since I have teeny wrists, but this lightweight beaded wrap fits snugly and the colors are beautiful. I believe the beads are made of rolled paper, which explains the weight. Love it!
Zambeezi Organic Beeswax Lip Balm – The last thing I need is another lip balm, but I definitely appreciate that this is made with all organic, fair trade ingredients. It was made in Zambia its purchase helps to support the women who produce it.
Love Mercy Bracelet – This is a dainty bracelet that you wear while praying for a better life for those in impoverished countries. When it wears down and finally falls off, you’ll know you did your part.
Batik Boutique Greeting Card – I’ve never seen a greeting card like this before. — The fabric design on the front is actually sewn on! You can see the stitches on the back when you open it up. So neat! A portion of the sale of these cards goes toward artisan training in Malaysia.
Overall, I’m really impressed with the items included in my Fair Trade Friday box. They all seem very well made and are practical items that almost anyone can use. My favorite item is definitely the bracelet. — So pretty!
