December Fit Snack time!
If you’re new to them, Fit Snack is a snack subscription box that’s curated to include items that are both well balanced and nutrient dense. When selecting products to include in the box, they use the Fit Snack “Perfect 10″. Put simply, they look for snacks that fall into one or more of these categories: Nutrient Dense (high in protein, complex carbs, low sugar index), Consciously Made (GMO free, organic production, sustainably farmed), and Diversified Energy (gluten free, clean eating, paleo, raw).
Each box will contain 6 to 9 healthy (yet satisfying) items that have total retail value of at least $30. While most of the items fall into the “snack” category, they also send cooking mixes, oils, and the like.
Subscriptions are $24/month (shipping included), or less with longer, multi-month commitments. It also looks like they ship worldwide. If you join Fit Snack using my link, you’ll save $3 on your first box!
Let’s see what’s in the December 2015 Fit Snack box!
As usual, everything was shipped in a big blue box with a white Fit Snack logo on the top and sides.
An info card listed all of the snacks, as well as accompanying photos, short descriptions, and a few discount codes.
Salad Power Vegetable & Fruit Juice – This claims to be “the world’s first drinkable salad” and contains 100% natural fruits & veggies. It has more than 3000% of Vitamin C and 2.75 servings of veggies in each bottle. Honestly, a drinkable salad doesn’t sound too appealing, so I’m hoping the addition of apples makes this less… salad-y. 😉
Four Points Whole Food Nutrition Bar in Downslope Dark Chocolate Coconut – A raw energy bar made with whole foods and whey for sustained energy. It’s gluten-free and has 10 grams of protein per serving.
Manitoba Harvest Hemp Pro 70 Protein Powder – It’s rare that I receive plant-based protein powders in subscription boxes, so these were nice to see. Hemp Pro 70 is (obviously) made with hemp protein for a vegan-friendly addition to your daily smoothie. I received both chocolate and vanilla flavors.
Next by Nature Dark Chocolate Goji Berries – I’m always sad when I see these Next by Nature products, because it bums me out that they’re not vegan. Especially since they’re made with dark chocolate (so easy to make vegan!). Ah well. These are gluten free and packed with antioxidants.
Detour Smart Bar in Coconut Almond – I’ve gotten these bars before and usually give them to my kiddos for a snack. They’re made with organic, non-GMO rolled oats and topped with a whey protein yogurt drizzle.
Fuel 100 Electro-Bites in Apple Cinnamon – I think these were featured in a recent box, but in a pumpkin spice flavor. I haven’t tried them, since I’m not very active, but they’re supposed to replace calories and electrolytes lost during workouts.
Raw Rev Glo Peanut Butter Dark Chocolate & Sea Salt Bar – The info card showed a Hot Chocolate flavored Clif Bar (which I LOVE), so I was a little sad to see this Raw Rev bar instead. There’s nothing wrong with these bars, but they seem to be in a LOT of boxes lately and I would much rather have gotten a yummy Clif Bar. Ah well.
Enerchi Bites in Coconut Oatmeal Raisin – Gluten-free, vegan-friendly energy bites made with hemp protein and chia seeds.
Ground 2 Table Spices – These spice packets have been popping up everywhere lately. They claim to be more eco-friendly by coming in small one-use packets instead of a larger multi-use one, but I really don’t understand how more plastic waste is better than one recyclable spice bottle. Odd.
The featured Fit Snack workout this month was a “Power Hour – Legs & Core” for summer legs in winter.
December’s Fit Snack box was a lot like last month’s… Just “okay”. There weren’t many large/full sized products and it felt a little lacking. I was also sad about the missing Clif bar. My favorite items were the hemp protein packets, the Raw Rev bar, and the drinkable salad (though I’ve yet to drink it!).
