Time for another Fit Snack review! It’s always fun to discover new healthy snacks and this box does a great job at introducing them.
Fit Snack doesn’t just toss any ol’ snacks into their boxes. They have a set of guidelines that help them choose items that are both well balanced and nutrient dense. When selecting products to include in the box, they use the Fit Snack “Perfect 10″. Put simply, they look for snacks that fall into one or more of these categories: Nutrient Dense (high in protein, complex carbs, low sugar index), Consciously Made (GMO free, organic production, sustainably farmed), and Diversified Energy (gluten free, clean eating, paleo, raw).
Each box will contain 6 to 9 healthy (yet satisfying) items that have total retail value of at least $30. While most of the items fall into the “snack” category, they also send cooking mixes, oils, and the like.
Subscriptions are $24/month (shipping included), or less with longer, multi-month commitments. It also looks like they ship worldwide. If you join Fit Snack using my link, you’ll save $3 on your first box!
Okay, let’s see what’s in the May Fit Snack box!
The big blue box o’ snacks!
As always, the info card listed all of the snacks, as well as short descriptions and a few discount codes.
Go Raw Chewy Apricot Sprouted Bar – Wow, these bars are BIG. They’re made with sprouted organic flax seeds, apricots, raisins, dates, and lime juice. 100% organic, non-GMO ingredients.
Wondergrain Sorghum – I’ve never had sorghum before, but it sounds like a pretty versatile grain. It’s supposed to absorb the flavors of the other foods cooked with it (much like tofu) so it can be used in a lots of different dishes. It also freezes well and never gets soggy. I’ll definitely be trying this out soon.
Kameda Crisps Sweet Chili Snack – A gluten-free snack with crispy rice crackers and roasted peanuts with sweet chili flavor. This wasn’t on the info card, so I’m guessing it was a bonus?
B’Bites Cinnamon Raisin Fruit & Nut Snack – Raw fruit & nut squares made with raisins, cashews, cinnamon, vanilla & sea salt. They’re gluten-free, dairy-free, and vegan.
Jackson’s Honest Sweet Potato Chips – Kettle cooked sweet potato chips made with non-GMO ingredients and cooked in organic coconut oil. I’m always happy to try new kettle chips. Mmm.
E-Hydrate Drink Mix – An all-natural powdered drink mix that contains more electrolytes than leading sports drinks. 4 different flavors were included.
Zouq Foods Golden Lentils – A high protein snack made with golden lentils and sea salt. They’re gluten-free, vegan, and make a convenient on-the-go snack.
Snack Out Loud Foods Crunchy Bean Snack – I’ve gotten these in a couple other subscription boxes but have yet to be brave enough to try them. They just… don’t look appetizing? 2 flavors were included: Jalapeno Cheddar and Smoky Chipotle BBQ.
Numi Emperor’s Pu-erh Organic Tea – Pu-erh is an ancient healing tea that’s richer than black tea and provides a natural boost of energy, focus, & clarity. 2 tea bags were included.
Oberto All Natural Beef Jerky – Meat is definitely my least favorite thing to see in subscription boxes, for obvious reasons. That said, my nephew is obsessed with jerky, so I’ll pass this along to him.
Also included was a recipe that utilizes the package of Wondergrain Sorghum. Sounds good!
This month’s featured workout was a “Fit Snack Body Weight Burnout” routine.
Overall, this was just an okay Fit Snack box for me. I’m not a huge fan of savory snacks and I don’t eat meat, so that eliminates a handful of the items. I’m definitely curious to try the sorghum though, and the raw food snacks sound good. As always, I didn’t do a cost breakdown (I rarely do for snack boxes), but I feel like there were a fair amount of snacks and it’s in line with other snack subscription boxes.

Try the Crunchy Bean Snacks as a salad topper to replace croutons. They add a great crunch factor, fiber and protein.

Awesome idea! I’ll have to try that. 🙂
