Fuego Box is a hot sauce club that introduces you to a new selection of sauces every month.
When you subscribe, you’ll receive the best artisanal/small batch hot sauces on the market. Instead of focusing on gimmicky labeling or straight up crazy heat, they instead choose the most dynamic flavors with just the right amount of hotness.
Subscriptions are available monthly and quarterly, with the choice of 1 or 3 bottles per box. Prices start at $12.95/month. When you choose the 3-bottle monthly option, your first box will include 2 sauces and a mini-tasting notebook. Every box after will contain 3 full bottles.
Let’s check out the Fuego Box “intro box”!
The sauces were shipped in a white padded mailer which protected the bright red Fuego box.
An info card lists all of the sauces, as well as flavor notes and suggestions on how to enjoy them.
33 Drops of Hot Sauce – As mentioned above, your first box will include a little “hot sauce journal” to record notes on each of the sauces you’ll receive. While I do like me some hot sauce, I don’t think it’s enough to record my thoughts on ’em. Oh — fun fact: Each of these notebooks is printed with ink containing a tiny amount of hot sauce. They actual note the source right on the back of the book. Neat!
Frankie V’s Spooky White – Can I just say that I love how it says “vegan” right there on the front of the bottle? Awesome! This white sauce is made from scratch in small batches and includes a blend of white and orange habaneros, mustard, ginger, garlic, and more. It’s also gluten-free and contains no preservatives. I’ve never had white hot sauce before so I’m looking forward to trying this out.
Born to Hula Ghost of Ancho – This award-winning sauce is made with smoked Bhut Jolokia peppers — otherwise known as ghost peppers! I’ve seen these ridiculously hot peppers featured on Man Vs. Food a few times and from what they’ve said, they are HOT. The info card describes this as having a “sweet smokey heat” that creeps up on you. (I bet it does!)
Palo Alto Fire Fighters Habanero Pepper Sauce – 3 sample packets of habanero pepper sauce were also included as a bonus. Portable heat!
I’m not exactly a hot sauce connoisseur myself, but I think Fuego Box is a great subscription for anyone who loves trying new sauces. It’s cool that they don’t rely on gimmicky labels or just crazy “hot for the sake of being hot” ones. Plus, while I wouldn’t use it myself, I do like the idea of keeping notes on each bottle tried. Makes it a little more fun. 🙂
