May Fuego Box time!
Fuego Box is a hot sauce club that introduces you to a new selection of sauces every month. When you subscribe, you’ll receive the best artisanal/small batch hot sauces on the market. Instead of focusing on gimmicky labeling or straight up crazy heat, they instead choose the most dynamic flavors with just the right amount of hotness.
Subscriptions are available monthly and quarterly, with the choice of 1 or 3 bottles per box. Prices start at $12.95/month. When you choose the 3-bottle monthly option, your first box will include 2 sauces and a mini-tasting notebook. Every box after will contain 3 full bottles. — For a limited time, you can save $10 on your first box with coupon code “AMIGOS“!
Let’s check out the May 2016 Fuego Box!
As always, the bottles were shipped in a bright red box protected by a bubble mailer to ensure that everything stayed in tact during transit.
A peek at the bottles!
An info card listed all of the sauces, as well as a little background info on each one and suggestions on how to best enjoy them.
The Bronx Greenmarket Hot Sauce – More than 30 Bronx community gardens grow the serrano peppers used to produce this unique hot sauce. — Each bottle purchased directly supports those gardens & gardeners. Very cool! This is an all purpose sauce that can be enjoyed on pretty much anything, but the info card suggests tacos, meats, and egg sandwiches.
Isabel Street Heat Fatalii Hot Sauce – I think this is the first sauce I’ve gotten from Fuego Box that came with a warning on the info card! It reads (in bold): “CAUTION: Very spicy! This sauce is for the individual that has an addiction to heat.” It’s made with fatalii peppers that have been fermented for months before being blended with orange and lemon juice for a citrusy kick.
Jersey Barnfire Black Garlic Hot Sauce – Handcrafted in small batches, this hot sauce features a blend of fresh, locally sourced ingredients. The highlight is slightly fermented and caramelized organic black garlic, which gives it a truly unique flavor. Enjoy it as a marinade, as a BBQ sauce, in salad dressing, or anywhere else that could use a bit of zing.
