September 2016 GlobeIn review time! — This month’s theme is “Threads” and features a collection of stylish artisan-made wearables and accessories.
If you’re not aware, GlobeIn is a monthly subscription box that features handcrafted goods by artisans around the world. Each month features a new theme with products supplied by various artisans. GlobeIn helps to bring income and exposure to small artists, while introducing you to beautiful pieces of their culture. Many of the products included are eco-friendly, fairly traded, and/or organic. Subscriptions are $40/month (shipping included), or less with multi-month commitments. — You can save 25% on your first month with any 3-month or longer subscription with coupon code “WELCOME“.
In addition to their standard Artisan Box, they also offer a smaller Benefit Basket for just $19.95/month. Every Benefit Basket includes one artisan-made item, along with a handwoven palm leaf basket. (You can see September’s Benefit Basket review here.)
Let’s see what’s inside the September 2016 GlobeIn Artisan box!
Everything was shipped in the usual dark green GlobeIn box.
A peek inside!
As always, a little info booklet featured full color photos and background information on all of the products included in the box, as well as the artisans who created them.
The Vicky Tee from Wildlife Works Kenya ($30) – This cute tee was made in Kenya with help from a woman named Vicky, whose passion for protecting wildlife and dream of working for an export company led her to Wildlife Works. The shirt is made with 100% cotton and features a cool black tree design with a small GlobeIn logo at its base. Proceeds from the sale of this item go to protect the wildlife, forests, and communities of Kenya.
Tribe Alive Foldover Clutch India ($50) – This 100% handwoven cotton fold-over clutch features traditional Indian color, design, and handiwork. It measures 11″ x 11″ square, or 11″ x 6.5″ when folded over. The gold zipper ensures that all of your belongings are kept safely inside. A cute accessory for a casual day out or even to hold small essentials while traveling.
Tribe Alive Tassel Bag Charm Honduras ($10) – Another Tribe Alive item, this funky tassel is made of 100% cotton and hangs on a shiny brass key ring. It’s quite large, measuring roughly 9 inches from the top of the ring to the tassel bottoms. It can be attached to your keys, purse, or wherever you’d like to add a little splash of color. The subtle pink ombre effect is so pretty!
(Basket Substitute) Spotted Bandana Ghana ($10) – Subscribers were given the choice to receive this item OR the palm leaf basket in September’s box. The spoiler photos for this polka dotted bandana looked denim colored, so I was happily surprised to see that it’s actually gray (unless there were variations?). I recently cut my hair really short, so I can use all the cute hair accessories I can get my hands on. 🙂
GlobeIn Signature Palm Leaf Basket Oaxaca, Mexico ($12) – As always, the box included a handwoven basket made of discarded palm leaves that can take hours to hand-weave. Since I (and most subscribers) have so many of these, I was happy to see a substitute item offered this month.
I think September’s “Threads” themed GlobeIn box was one of their highest valued offerings to date! — All totaled, the retail value of all the items was $100 (or $102 if you chose the basket)! I’m super hard to please when it comes to t-shirts, but I actually think the design they chose was really cute. 🙂 — If you’d like to sign up for the GlobeIn Artisan box, you can save 25% on your first month with any 3-month or longer subscription with coupon code “WELCOME“.
