November’s Hamptons Lane box features a great theme to kick of the holidays — “Tarts & Pies”!
If you’re new here, Hamptons Lane is a unique subscription box that features a new selection of kitchen tools, artisan foods, tabletop items, and recipes every month. Each box will introduce a different theme which spotlights a specific region, food, skill, ingredient, or activity. The themes are announced beforehand, so if it’s not something you’re interested in you’re free to skip that month’s shipment. You can even choose to substitute it with a past box from their shop.
Subscriptions are $47/month, but you can save $10 on your first box with coupon code “2LittleRosebuds10”.
Let’s see what’s in the November 2015 Hamptons Lane “Tarts & Pies” box!
The big blue box!
A look inside the big blue box. Tart-y!
The box featured a nice full-color information booklet filled with recipes, product information, and tips for making perfect pies and tarts.
Fat Daddio’s Rectangular Tart & Quiche Pan – You can’t make a fancy tart without an equally fancy tart pan! This one’s made with heavy duty anodized aluminum, has pretty scalloped edges, and features a removable bottom for easy release. It measures an impressive 13 3/4″ x 4 1/2″ x 1″ to hold plenty of tart-y goodness.
Cloister Cinnamon Whipped Honey – I’ve never had whipped honey before, so I’m looking forward to trying this. It’s made with just two ingredients — raw honey and Korinje cinnamon. The info booklet suggests enjoying it on biscuits, carrots, fruit, oatmeal, or in honey pie.
Fox Run Double-Sided Pastry Wheel & Cutter – I’m not much of a baker — so I’ve never even tried to make a pie from scratch — but if I ever attempt to, this handy wheel/cutter will help make it look legit. It features stainless steel blades for both cutting and crimping.
Fox Run Ceramic Pie Weights – I had no idea what pie weights were until I received this box. Turns out they’re small ceramic balls that help pie crusts from shrinking or blistering during baking. Just lay a piece of parchment paper on the crust, add the weights, and cook as usual. The weights help by providing even heat and weight distributions, resulting in a perfectly baked crust.
Hamptons Lane Set of Four Decorative Leaf Presses – These colorful plunger leaf presses make it simple to add a festive finishing touch to your pies. Just roll out your dough, push the press into it, and affix the leaves to your pie. Easy!
Terre Botanicals Sweet Orange Sugar – A fine sugar blend made with organic cane sugar and orange botanicals & essence. The info card suggests baking it into your pies, sprinkling it on tarts, or even using it to sweeten hot tea. Yum!
RawSpiceBar Spices – Also included were two spice blends from RawSpiceBar — Chicken Pie Spices and Pumpkin Pie Spice. The info booklet featured recipes for pumpkin pie, spiral veggie pie, and chicken & squash pot pie which utilize these blends.
Hamptons Lane did an awesome job curating a fun, inspiring box for the upcoming baking season. I’ve never made a tart or pie in my life but this box totally makes me want to give it a whirl. I didn’t do a cost breakdown, since I wasn’t sure of the values for everything, but I’d say it’s certainly worth the monthly subscription price. 🙂
