Let’s see what’s in the May 2016 The Hippie Hobby box!
The unmistakable Hippie Hobby box!
A peek inside. — Lots of eco-friendly recycled paper shreds.
The featured project for May was DIY Herbal Bath Teas! Complete step-by-step instructions were provided, along with helpful tips and photos.
Rolled Oats – Roughly 3/4 cup of rolled oats were included for the “tea”. It was to be divided into 6 paper tea bags along with the other ingredients.
Epsom Salt – Another bath tea essential.
Chamomile & Lavender Flowers – To scent the sachets, two different flowers were included — German whole certified organic chamomile and ultra blue grade lavender.
Lavender Essential Oil – If you wanted to add an even more intense scent, they also included a small bottle of 100% lavender essential oil.
Heat to Seal Tea Bags – 6 empty tea bags/sachets were provided, which can be sealed using a standard iron.
Sewing Kit – Lastly, a little sewing kit for those who want to get a little more crafty and sew some embroidered detailing at the top of the tea bags. (No thanks, I’m good. 😉 )
Mixing it all together! It smelled amazing. I didn’t even need to add the additional lavender oil.
It almost looks like (very sugary) granola. 😉
Ta-da! The process couldn’t have been any easier… Just fill up the bags half-way, seal the open end with an iron on the highest setting (10-15 seconds), and it’s done.
Not the most photogenic end result, but they did turn out exactly as promised. 🙂
Bonus Craft – A “bonus craft” involved making pretty envelopes to tuck the tea bags into for giving as gifts. Since I’m keeping them for myself, I haven’t completed this yet. 😉
I really enjoyed my May box from The Hippie Hobby! It was so much easier and less time-consuming than their last box (a major plus for someone as non-crafty as I am). Plus, I love bath products and will most definitely be using these all natural bath teas. 🙂 Remember, if you’d like to subscribe you can save $7 on your first box when you use coupon code “ROSEBUD7” at checkout!
