Ipsy time! December’s Glam Bag theme is “Thinking of You” and is a shoutout to all of the subscribers who made Ipsy a part of their lives in 2014. So in relation to the actual products, there’s not really a theme at all. Hey, as long as the products are decent, I’m totally fine with vague (or absent) themes.
For those not aware, Ipsy is a beauty subscription that sends subscribers a monthly “Glam Bag” full of cosmetics and beauty accessories for just $10/month. When you sign up, you take a “beauty quiz” to determine your likes/dislikes, makeup preferences, etc. This helps Ipsy learn which products to send in your Glam Bag. Each bag will contain 4-6 full sized and deluxe sample sized products from top cosmetics brands.
A lot of different variations are sent each month, so you’ll see that other subscribers may have gotten totally different products than you did. Hopefully your beauty quiz answers match you with products that most meet your needs… But honestly, even if you only like one or two of the products, for $10 shipped it’s still a pretty good deal.
Let’s see what’s in the bag!
The Bag – This month’s bag, while difficult to photograph, is probably one of my favorites from Ipsy. It’s a solid black nylon(?) pouch with a purple/burgundy-ish lining inside. There’s a little pink heart with the Ipsy logo attached to the zipper for an extra touch of cuteness.
Cailyn Just Mineral Eye Polish ($15.00) – A pretty rose-colored eyeshadow made with 100% raw mineral powder. It includes a built-in sponge applicator which makes it easy to take along with you — no losing it in your bag since it’s built right into the cap like nail polish. Neat.
Nourish Organic Renewing Eye Cream ($5.00?) – I couldn’t find this exact product on their site, so I’m guessing the price. It’s an all natural eye cream made with organic ingredients including avocado and Moroccan argan oil. It also has shea butter to help moisturize and condition the delicate skin around your eyes.
NYX Cosmetics Butter Lip Balm in Parfait ($~6.00) – I’m not a fan of lipstick/stains, so I’m thinking I’ll be throwing this in my swap pile. I’d give it a try if it weren’t such a bright shade. I was hoping for the nude color that was listed in the options, but no luck.
Bumble and bumble Repair Blow Dry ($3.36) – A protective cream/serum that you work through damp hair before drying to help repair hair with every blow dry. It helps seal split ends and makes hair appear healthy and soft.
tarte Lights, Camera Lashes 4-in-1 Mascara ($9.14) – I’m officially over mascara now. I’ve gotten SO many in the last few months. I know this is a good brand or whatever, but… meh. Just another mascara for the pile.
This was just an “okay” bag for me. I’ll probably use the eye polish, eye cream, and hair repair but I’m not all that excited about any of it. That said, the total estimated value (using Amazon prices) of all the items in my December Ipsy Glam Bag comes to roughly $38.50. Can’t really complain considering the subscription is only $10/mo. Plus, the bag this time is super cute.
