Ipsy time! I was really, really hoping to get the Essie polish that they showed in the July spoilers, but I still got a pretty decent bag so it’s cool.
If you’re new here, Ipsy is a beauty subscription that sends subscribers a monthly “Glam Bag” full of cosmetics and beauty accessories for just $10/month. When you sign up, you take a “beauty quiz” to determine your likes/dislikes, makeup preferences, etc. This helps Ipsy learn which products to send in your Glam Bag. Each bag will contain 4-6 full sized and deluxe sample sized products from top cosmetics brands.
A lot of different variations are sent each month, so you’ll see that other subscribers may have gotten totally different products than you did. Hopefully your beauty quiz answers match you with products that most meet your needs… But honestly, even if you only like one or two of the products, for $10 shipped it’s still a pretty good deal.
Let’s see what’s in my July 2015 Ipsy bag!
Nicka K New York HQ Quad Eyeshadow ($4.99) – I like that they actually sent a multi-color palette rather than just a single shadow. The colors are all very pretty and appropriate for daily wear.
Pur-lisse Pur-bright Ultra Skin Brightening Serum (~$25!?) – The full size bottle of this brightening serum on the Pur-lisse site is only 1 ounce and yet it sells for $76! Um, that’s nutso. I guess that means this itty bitty sample is worth $25? Yeesh. This stuff must do some serious skin brightening!
Teeez Cosmetics Read My Lips Lipstick in “Killing Me Softly” ($22) – I say it all the time, but… I don’t wear lipstick. Okay, 99.3% of the time I don’t. I make small exceptions for subtle shades, and while this looks rather bright in my photo, it’s a lot lighter in person. It’s a pretty matte coral and I’m still trying to decide if I should keep it or swap it. The packaging alone almost makes me want to keep it.
City Color HD Powder (~$3) – This translucent powder is used to set your foundation, blur imperfections, and reduce shine. It’s made of 100% silica powder and is suitable for all skin tones.
Eva NYC Freshen Up Dry Shampoo (~$3) – I wish I liked dry shampoo cos I seem to get a TON of it from subscription boxes. I just feel like the dirt/oil would still be on my hair after using it. I’m the same way about hand sanitizers… I always still feel like my hands aren’t clean unless I actually wash them.
While I didn’t like July’s bag as much as last month’s, it wasn’t bad at all. I’ll probably use everything in the bag except the dry shampoo and maybe the lipstick. The value was crazy impressive — roughly $58 in products! Pretty good for a $10 bag!
