Hello there, May Ipsy bag.I wasn’t all that thrilled when I saw my product reveal earlier in the month, but held out hope that I’d be happier with everything once it arrived. Was I? Read on!
If you’re new here, Ipsy is a beauty subscription that sends subscribers a monthly “Glam Bag” full of cosmetics and beauty accessories for just $10/month. When you sign up, you take a “beauty quiz” to determine your likes/dislikes, makeup preferences, etc. This helps Ipsy learn which products to send in your Glam Bag. Each bag will contain 4-6 full sized and deluxe sample sized products from top cosmetics brands.
A lot of different variations are sent each month, so you’ll see that other subscribers may have gotten totally different products than you did. Hopefully your beauty quiz answers match you with products that most meet your needs… But honestly, even if you only like one or two of the products, for $10 shipped it’s still a pretty good deal.
Let’s see what’s in my May Ipsy bag!
The bag – Meh. While I like the canvas(?) material, I’m not too keen on the design. I guess I’m not makeup-obsessed enough to appreciate it?
PIxi by Petra Beauty Bronzer (~$10?) – I never use bronzer, so this is a total miss for me. Even if I did use it, I have a very pale complexion and this is way too dark. Ah well.
Bellapierre Gel Eye Liner in Ebony ($14.99) – Okay, this I like. A full-sized eye liner in the shade I wear on a daily basis. Awesome. This single product alone pays for the entire cost of the bag.
Bare Republic Naturals SPF 30 Mineral Face Sunscreen Lotion (~$3) – Lightly tinted, mineral sunscreen for the face. 100% natural and chemical free. My current moisturizer also contains sunscreen, so I don’t really have a use for this… Though I suppose I could use it on my body instead. (I think?)
Luxie Beauty Tapered Blending Eye Brush ($12) – I’m always happy to receive vegan-friendly brushes! This has synthetic hair bristles that are coated with an antibacterial solution for minimal brush cleansing. Plus, it’s pretty. 😉
Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Lip Pencil & Bonus Lip Gloss (~$4) – I don’t use lipstick or lip gloss, so I’m not too excited about this one. Urban Decay is a good brand though, and I’m sure lots of people would be happy to receive this… I’m just not one of ’em. 😉
I didn’t *love* this month’s Ipsy bag, but it wasn’t terrible either. Although I won’t use the majority of the products, the ones I will use (the eye liner & brush) more than make up the cost of the monthly subscription. All totaled, the value for my May bag is roughly $44!

I received the eyeliner and lip pencil this month too. I’m also a black eyeliner gal but I’ve been collecting them faster than I can use them! But that brush is golden – I could totally use another one right now! I’ve been using the blush brush from a previous Ipsy bag and it’s soooo soft.

Oh, I definitely don’t *need* any more eyeliner, but at least it’s something I can use. 😉

I wish I got the bag that you got. I really wanted that one. I was disappointed that ipsy had a variety of bags sent out because I liked knowing that what I saw in my preview is what I got.

It was different than what they showed on your sneak peek page? Weird!

I was satisfied with most of the products that came in my May glam bag. I received everything listed here except the bronzer. Which I am happy about since I wouldn’t have used it anyways. Instead of the bronzer I got briogeo rosario milk. It is a leave-in conditioner spray with rosehip, argan, and coconut oil blend. Kind of excited to use it since I love playing with my hair.

I have a zillion conditioner/texturizing/etc sprays thanks to subscription boxes, but I would rather have gotten that than the dumb bronzer. 😉
