Jerky Snob is a subscription box that sends you a handpicked selection of artisan jerky every month.
There are two box options to choose from: A 1/2 pound box that contains 3 to 4 bags of jerky, or a full pound box that has 6 to 8 bags. Jerky Snob selects only the highest quality products to include in each shipment. All of the samples they send are free of nitrates, MSG, high fructose corn syrup, and unnecessary preservatives.
Subscriptions are $27/month for a 1/2 pound box and $54/month for a full pound.
Let’s see what’s in the August 2015 Jerky Snob box!
Everything was shipped in a plain brown box with a Jerky Snob sticker on the side.
A card was included which gave background info for each of the artisan companies featured in the box. Two brands were included: Lawless Jerky from Phoenix, AZ and Righteous Felon Jerky from Chester County, PA.
Obviously, being vegan I can’t exactly sample any of the jerky myself. My husband doesn’t eat it either, so since we’ll be giving it away I didn’t really want to open up the packages beforehand. Sooo… Brief descriptions will have to do.
Lawless Jerky Aloha Teriyaki Beef Jerky – This is a beef jerky made from 100% grass fed beef. It’s sweetened with brown sugar and spiced with ginger, garlic, and onion. It’s also gluten-free and contains no preservatives.
Lawless Jerky Pho Beef Jerky – Grass-fed beef jerky with an Asian twist. This is made with herbs and spices including cilantro, mint, basil, star anise, cloves, and cinnamon. It also packs some heat from jalapeno peppers.
Righteous Felon O.G. Hickory Craft Jerky – All natural, gluten-free beef jerky made with natural smoke flavor for a smoky & savory taste. It’s minimally processed with no added nitrates.
Righteous Felon Che-Potle Guevara Craft Jerky – A spicy jerky made with chipotle peppers, chili powder, and other spices. All natural and gluten-free.
I’m clearly NOT the target market for this subscription, but I can appreciate the curation that goes into it. I imagine it’s not too easy to find products like this without any added preservatives or other unnecessary ingredients. Jerky Snob makes it easy to discover smaller artisan brands from the convenience of your home.
August 2015 Jerky Snob Review
Obviously not my ideal subscription, but there’s surely a market for it. One of my nephews is a huge jerky fan, so he’ll be more than happy to take these off my hands.
