Loot Crate time! This month’s theme is “Fear” and features a “spooky collection of the things that creep us (Looters) out”. Perfect choice for an October box!
If you’re not aware, Loot Crate is a monthly subscription box for fans of gamer/geek culture. Every month you’ll get a box packed with 6-8 items that can include toys, gear, snacks, hardware, art, accessories, and more! (They’ve even been sending limited edition Loot Crate exclusive items!) Boxes are $19.37/month (price includes shipping), or less with longer subscriptions.
Let’s see what was in the box!
Oh — First, let’s check out the box itself. I won’t pretend to know what this is based on, but it’s cool nonetheless.
Death by Kitten T-Shirt – Yay! They brought back t-shirts this month! This one’s another Loot Crate exclusive that features a collection of kittens that form the shape of a skull. Meow that’s one creepy shirt! My husband is a big fan of cats (though indifferent to skulls), so I’m sure he’ll get some use out of this. Personally, I can’t stand ’em. (Cats, that is. Skulls are alright.)
The Walking Dead Issue #132 from Image Comics – A couple months ago Loot Crate sent out an exclusive Rocket Raccoon comic with an alternate cover and it was such a hit that they decided to send out another one. This time it’s The Walking Dead Issue #132 with cover artwork by Charlie Adlard. Neat!
“Oh, Brother” SuperEmoFriends Art Print by JSalvador – I’ve never heard of JSalvador/SuperEmoFriends, so I had to check out his site. He basically makes paintings of popular characters looking particularly “emo”. (I love the “A Christmas Story” tongue/frozen poll one!) This print shows the popular brothers from The Walking Dead (Merle & Daryl Dixon).
Sledgesaw Hammer Pen by Capcom – Another exclusive item! This is a “sledgesaw hammer” from the video game “Dead Rising 3”. I *think* I’ve played it (or at least watched my husband play it) a few years ago — the original one, anyway. I don’t remember much about it other than being scared (yes, by a video game). This pen is super cool and a wee bit terrifying.
“How to Survive a Sharknado” by Andrew Shaffer – I’m not quite sure if I’d ever read this (okay, I definitely wouldn’t), but I’m sure some people would be super into it. Learn how to fight back against such “unnatural disasters” and monsters such as “antdemics”, boaricanes, mothman, dinoshark, and more.
Slashes & Bites Tattoos – Just in time for Halloween! Temporary tattoos featuring bloody scratches, bites, and more. Festive!
Even More Stuff – Mini mag (in 3D!), Loot Crate pin, Toxic Waste candy, Smite Gift Card, and 3D glasses.
I didn’t do a cost breakdown this month, since there were SO many exclusive items, but I think it’s safe to say that it’s totally worth the subscription price. The book alone is selling for around $10 on Amazon.
