This month I decided to try a Love with Food box. I used a code that I found for a free box (I only had to pay $2.00 for shipping — code shared at end of post), so I figured I had nothing to lose.
Love with Food is a monthly subscription service that features 8 or more gourmet foods/snacks for $12 a month (even less with longer subscriptions). For every box purchased, they donate a meal to a child in need. Nice!
As with most food/snack boxes, I knew there would be a chance that there wouldn’t be any vegan items included. Thankfully, there was plenty! The other stuff will go to my husband and/or other family members. Everybody wins!
So what was in the box? Let’s take a look…
I was a little surprised by the smallish size of the box, but when I opened it I was happy to see that it was packed tight with goodies! The theme this month was “Under the Boardwalk”, and included lots of summertime treats.
KuKuRuZa Hawaiian Salted Caramel Popcorn – Gourmet popcorn made from scratch using an old fashioned, time-tested recipe. Made with real butter, brown sugar, and a dash of pink sea salt. Sounds awesome! (Even though I can’t eat it!)
Nature’s Bakery Strawberry Fig Bar – I’ve seen these bars in other boxes and have always wanted to try one. I like that these are made with whole wheat, and of course that they’re dairy-free!
Twangerz Snack Toppings – Lime, Chili Lime, Lemon Lime, and Pickle Salt flavorings to top your favorite snacks. These sound interesting… I think I’ll try ’em on popcorn sometime.
Uncle Henry’s Handmade Pretzels – These pretzels are “rolled by hand and baked in a stone hearth oven for authentic crunch and flavor”. They definitely had a nice crunch, but a little too much salt for me. I’m super sensitive to salty things though, so I’m sure it wouldn’t be a problem for most people. 🙂
Rebel Mary Peanuts from Lord Nut Levington – Bloody Mary flavored peanuts? Alrighty. I’ve never actually had an real Bloody Mary, so I’m not sure what these are supposed to taste like… haha
Hello Fresh $25 Gift Card – Hello Fresh is a weekly subscription service that sends you recipes along with all of the ingredients you need to make a fresh meal at home. I’ve seen reviews for this and it’s a pretty neat idea. It’s cool that everything you need is all in one box. You just have to be willing to actually prepare it all. 😉
Necco Wafers – Yep, the classic wafer candy. I was never really a fan of these, especially the gray ones. Ew. I’ll be passing these along to my mom. She likes… gray stuff.
Angel Mint All Natural Orange Salt Water Taffy – I almost gave these to my mom too, but I’m glad I didn’t. I went to the Angel Mint website to check the ingredients and was shocked that they were vegan. Yay! I haven’t had salt water taffy in forever, so this was a nice treat.
The box also included a little stick of beef jerky. I normally include all the items I receive, vegan or not, but straight-up meat is where I gotta draw the line. Sorry, beef jerky fans! (If you’re curious, it was from Vermont Smoke and Cure.)
Overall, I was pretty happy with Love with Food. Especially for the 2 dollars I paid. I’m not sure that I’ll keep my subscription, but I’d probably order one every so often. I’m kinda stuck in snack overload with all these boxes lately… Yeah, I know, such a horrible problem to have. #bloggerproblems Want to try your first box for FREE (only pay $2 shipping)?
