Let’s see what’s in the Fall 2015 Mary’s Secret Ingredients box!
Everything was shipped in a big white box that asked to be handled “with loving care”.
A peek inside. — I always like when companies fold their tissue paper into pockets to hold the printed materials. Clever!
On top was a welcome note from Mary, letting me know what I’ll find inside.
A “Little Book of Ingredients” sheet listed all of the items, as well as detailed information about each one.
Ardent Mills Ultragrain All-Purpose Flour – When I first saw this I was like, “Really? Flour?”, but it kinda makes sense. Autumn is prime time for making delicious baked goods, most of which require flour, so… here it is! This is a blend of 30% Ultragrain whole wheat flour and 70% traditional white. It uses white wheat as opposed to the red variety for a taste & texture unlike most wheat varieties (more comparable to traditional white flour). Chances are, you won’t even be able to tell that it has 9 grams of whole grain per serving and twice the fiber of other all-purpose flours.
Coastal Goods Sarah’s Sea Salt Tuscan Seasoning – A classic Mediterranean sea salt blend that includes dried Italian herbs, spices, tomato, lemon peel, and sunflower & rosemary oils. You can sprinkle this on pizza, pasta, or grilled vegetables for a burst of flavor. Added to olive oil, it would also be a great bread dip.
POURfect 13-Piece Measuring Spoon Set – So apparently a “drop”, “smidgen”, “pinch”, and “dash” are all actual measurements? I had no idea! This 13-piece set of measuring spoons includes all of the following sizes: 1/64, 1/32, 1/16, 1/8, 1/4, 1/3, 1/2, 3/4, 1 teaspoon, 1 Tablespoon, 1-1/2 Tablespoon and 2 Tablespoon. Each spoon easily snaps off of the attached ring and features a dripless spout with a fine edge for no drips. They’re also made in the USA, are BPA-free and dishwasher/microwave safe.
Jenkins Jellies – These pepper jellies are made in small batches using the freshest ingredients. They’re all natural, preservative-free, and contain no artificial flavors or coloring. Included were Guava Brava Pepper Jelly — which features the sweet flavor of guava blended with seven varieties of peppers, and Hell Fire Pepper Jelly — a classic pepper blend with a sweet and savory flavor. The two were packaged together and tied with a handy stir spoon.
Mary’s Pastel – Mary herself created this original pastel drawing using inspiration from her garden’s late-summer bounty. Use it as a postcard or frame it for your home.
The Fall 2015 Mary’s Secret Ingredients box included a nice selection of items to inspire your autumn baking. You can never have too much flour, the precise measuring spoon set is super useful, and the salt blend will be great as a bread dip. I’m not quite sure what I’ll do with the pepper jellies, so I’ll think I’ll pass them along to my mother-in-law who’s much more adventurous in the kitchen than I am. 😉

Thanks for sharing our fall box! I hope you have the pepper jellies a try – they even taste good on a cracker! Which ingredient was your favorite?
Wendy Rose
No problem! I actually just gave the jellies to my mother-in-law today — she loves them! She said she’s even made her own before. My favorite item was the measuring spoons. Super useful. 🙂

We make homemade calzones often (I am vegan; my husband is not) so the first item I would use is the Coastal Goods Sarah’s Sea Salt Tuscan Seasoning. I would use some olive oil and brush it over the dough before baking for some extra flavor.
Virginia
Everything sounds yummy and the measuring spoons are super. the only problem is I live alone, family out of state so I rarely cook. Good luck to all who try the recipes.
Kris I.
I would make some cookies with the flour!
