Let’s see what’s in the Winter 2016 Mary’s Secret Ingredients box!
A peek inside. — As always, the info booklet was neatly tucked into a pocket created with tissue paper and sealed with a sticker.
A “Little Book of Ingredients” pamphlet listed all of the items, as well as detailed information about each one.
Sfoglini is based in Brooklyn, NY where it’s dedicated to bringing classic Italian style pasta back to NYC (and beyond). They use the finest organic ingredients along with traditional Italian methods to create all of their products. This particular pasta — Spaccatelli (also known as Strozzapreti or “priest’s collars”) — resembles a rolled-up scroll or towel and is great paired with a chunky sauce that can be trapped in the curved folds.
Wine RayZyns are crunchy superfood snacks made from premium California wine grapes. They’re high in fiber, low in fat & cholesterol, and have more antioxidants than actual wine. There are 3 different varieties available, all of which are vegan, gluten free, and non-GMO.
This pretty pink cake server was designed in Finland and allows for single-handed, mess free cake serving. Just press the server through a (round) cake, squeeze gently to lift the piece out, and release to plate it. The server is made with food grade plastic and is dishwasher safe.
A traditional Swedish treat, this Lingonberry jam is made with only handpicked wild lingonberries, pure sugar, water, and fruit pectin. The berries are packed with antioxidants and have a sweet, yet tart flavor.
Organic green tea with the festive addition of spearmint and peppermint leaves. It also contains ginger root, lemongrass, and wintergreen oil for a clean, refreshing flavor.
Za’atar is an ancient spice blend consisting of a mix of herbs, sumac, and sesame seed. It can be used to flavor everything from grilled meats to baked bread, to roasted vegetables and even steeped into tea (no thanks 😉 ).
I really enjoyed the variety of items in the Winter 2016 Mary’s Secret Ingredients box. I’m never quite sure what I’ll find inside, but I can be sure there will be a few things I had no idea existed. Like those dried wine grapes. 🙂 My favorite items this time were the handmade pasta, green tea, wine grapes, and cake server. — Remember, for a limited time you can save 20% on your first box with coupon code “TRYMSI“!
