November’s POPSUGAR Must Have box arrived just like it did last month… Without any notice. Now, while I do enjoy tracking the hell out of my boxes, getting unexpected deliveries is way more exciting. Thanks, POPSUGAR!
If you’re not hip to it yet, POPSUGAR Must Have is a monthly lifestyle subscription box that’s curated with a fun variety of “on trend” products curated by the POPSUGAR team. Items can range from food, beauty, household, fashion, fitness gear and everything in between. Unlike a lot of other subscription boxes, everything in this box is full sized. No foil packets in this bad boy.
Monthly boxes are $39.95 and there’s almost always a discount code available (I’ve included one at the end of this post!).
I had already seen all of the spoilers before receiving my box and wasn’t too thrilled with them. However, once the box arrived and I got to physically check everything out, I was a lot more excited about most of the items.
Let’s have a look!
First look. This is my third box and the first time my box included an info card. Finally!!
Oh info card, how happy I was to see you at last.
Sorial Saffiano Wallet on a Chain ($49) – I wasn’t too into this when I saw the spoiler, but once it arrived it kinda grew on me. My bag of choice is a big ol’ crossbody messenger style bag, so I wasn’t sure of such a tiny demure-looking “wallet on a chain”. Then I thought about the times when I really didn’t feel like dealing with a big bag and just needed somewhere to stick my phone and realized this would be perfect. It has one main zippered compartment, as well as a smaller one on the outside. I like the extra security of zippers versus magnets or buttons, so that’s a definite plus. An even bigger plus is that it’s made of (vegan!) faux leather. (While that’s cool and all, I just looked at their site and they have a LOT of products made from animals. Boo.)
Wine Glass Writer Marker Set ($9.95) – I’m not a wine drinker, so this was another item I wasn’t too thrilled about at first. However, once I found out that you can use these metallic pens to write on just about any glass surface I didn’t mind getting them. They’ll be great for decorating my windows for the holidays or writing little messages to the girls on the bathroom mirrors when they’re older. Hurray for multi-use products.
Tiny Prints Thoughtful Heart Stationery ($15) – This cute set of notecards and envelopes was exclusively designed by POPSUGAR for Tiny Prints. While the simple design is nice, I would rather have seen something more festive. Though I suppose it may have turned off those who don’t celebrate the holidays. Still, even snowflakes would have been cool. Ah well. They also included a $25 voucher good for any order on the Tiny Prints site, so that’s a nice bonus.
“The Secret Recipes” by Dominque Ansel ($35 Retail, $20.47 Amazon) – I believe this was the first spoiler that was released and I was less than impressed. As a vegan, most cookbooks are useless to me. As a lazy vegan, this particular book is extra useless. I’m all about simple recipes with simple ingredients. The ones included here are far from simple. It’s written by the guy who invented the Cronut, so it’s not surprising that he included a recipe for the “At-Home Cronut Pastry”. A recipe that takes “1 hour two days before, 1 hour one day before, and 2 hours the day of”. Uhhhh… No.
K. Hall Simpatico Ambergris Shea Butter Cream ($22) – This is a nice hand cream made with 5% shea butter. It has no parabens or petroleum ingredients, and it’s totally free of animal products. Works for me!
G. H. Cretors Chicago Mix ($3.69) – I know a lot of people are fans of this popcorn, but it just sounds weird to me. Even if I weren’t vegan I still wouldn’t eat a mix of caramel and cheddar cheese corn. Just sounds unappealing. Different strokes for different folks, right?
Though I wasn’t as excited about this box as last month’s, it wasn’t as bad as I was thinking it would be (based on the spoilers). I’m not thrilled with the cookbook or popcorn, but the rest of the items will be put to use, so I’m happy. Oh, and all totaled (using retail prices and including the Tiny Prints voucher), everything in this month’s box comes to about $160. A great deal considering the subscription is less than $40/month!
