Our December 2016 My Pretend Place box is here!
If you’re not aware, My Pretend Place is a dress-up and “make believe” subscription for both boys and girls. It consists of a selection of items designed to encourage imagination and pretend play geared towards kids aged 3 through 6.
Disclosure: I received this box for review purposes. I was not compensated in any way. All opinions are my own. Post may contain affiliate and/or referral links.
Each My Pretend Place box will feature a different theme and include things such as costumes, books, crafts, activities, and even food items. You have the option to choose from a girl, boy, or gender neutral box — all of which will include a costume and other fun goodies fitting the theme. Some of the past themes have included Chef, Veterinarian, Firefighter, Princess, Fairy, Construction Worker, and more. UPDATE: You now have the choice to “build your own box” and pick the specific theme you’d like, rather than having My Pretend Place choose. Very cool!
Subscriptions are $50 (shipping included) for every 3 months of dress-up fun. Month 1 is when you’ll receive the main box with the role play set & other goodies. Shipments for months 2 and 3 will include additional themed activities, kid-friendly recipes, completion certificates, and more — all included in the subscription and shipped FREE of charge. — For a limited time, you can save 30% on your first month with coupon code “PRETEND“! (That makes it just $35 for your first 3 months of pretend play fun!)
Okay, let’s see what’s inside the December 2016 My Pretend Place Dress Up Box! (Includes Months 1 through 3!)
Month 1:
As always, everything for the first month was shipped in a big white box with the My Pretend Place logo in the upper left corner.
A peek inside!
The box included a letter to your child from Madame Pasdedeux, the “Ballet Mistress” at the MPP (My Pretend Place) Dance Academy.
Melissa & Doug Ballerina Role Play Set – I chose the “Ballerina” theme for this quarter’s box because my girls love anything that involves wearing a tutu. 😉 The pretty role play set includes a crushed-velvet top with tulle tutu, crushed-velvet bloomers (not pictured), satiny ribboned slippers, and a sparkly tiara. I’m actually saving this for Christmas so I don’t have any photos with them wearing it, but I’m looking forward to seeing how stinkin’ adorable they’ll look as little ballerinas. 🙂
Melissa & Doug Nina Ballerina Magnetic Dress-Up Set – This fun magnetic ballerina dress up set includes a wooden doll, display stand, and 6 outfits to mix & match — 27 clothing pieces in all. Again, anything that involves tutus is sure to be a hit with my kiddos. 😉
Tallulah’s Tutu by Marilyn Singer – A sweet book about a girl named Tallulah who thinks a tutu will make her a great dancer. When she starts ballet classes, she soon finds out that she must earn her tutu through hard work and practice. Not wanting to wait that long, she quits after one class. Thankfully, she’s continually reminded of her love for dance and eventually goes back (and does end up earning her tutu in the end!).
Dancer’s Ribbon Ring – A cute DIY craft was also include that involved making a simple dancer’s ribbon ring. Materials were provided for making two completed rings.
Some heart-shaped foam stickers, a My Pretend Place magnet, and a plastic handle were also included to decorate the shipping box for use as a storage/dress-up trunk.
Month 2:
The packet for Month 2 included another letter from Madame Pasdedeux, which included information about the five basic ballet positions as well as a bit about hula dancing. It also included two more activities: Making a foot chart/guide of the 5 ballet positions and a hula-themed sticker sheet & backdrop scene activity.
Month 3:
The final month included a congratulatory letter from Madame Pasdedeux in which she informed your child that they have officially completed their time with the MPP Dance Academy. Also included were instructions for holding a celebratory ballerina ceremony and a recipe for adorable ballerina cupcakes.
A signed Certificate of Completion made everything official!
I think this was one of my favorite My Pretend Place themes to date! My girls are both super into playing dress up these days and if the outfit has a tutu, even better. 😉 — If you’d like to sign up for the My Pretend Place, they’re offering new customers 30% off their first box! Just use coupon code “PRETEND” at checkout. This makes it just $35 for 3 months of pretend play fun! 🙂
