Quilty Crate is a subscription box that sends you an assortment of high quality quilting supplies every month.
Each box will typically contain 5-8 products with a total value of between $50-75. Items can include quilt weight fabrics — from trusted designers and manufacturers like Clothworks, Moda, Riley Blake, Andover, P & B Textiles, and Wyndham — along with notions, patterns, gadgets, and more. Quilty Crate gives back by donating 5% of each prepaid monthly subscription to one of their featured charities.
Subscriptions are $45/month, or less with multi-month commitments. (Right now you can save 20% off your first box with coupon code “2LRQC“.)
Let’s see what’s in the September 2015 Quilty Crate!
Everything was shipped in a flat white box via USPS.
All of the items were individually wrapped and sealed with “Just for you” stickers. So cute! I love when boxes do this… makes it much more fun to open. I only wish they would have wrapped an info card up as well, since I’m pretty clueless when it comes to quilty things. 😉
Fabric – Five bundles of pretty fabrics were included… I had no idea what size these were or how to describe them other than “fabric”… Thankfully after poking around on their site, I discovered that these are “5 fat quarters of rich, beautiful batiks from Anthology”. That doesn’t help me, but at least it gives actual quilters a better idea of what’s included in the box. 🙂
Four Paws Quilting Gimme Diamonds Pattern – This pattern includes directions for five different quilt sizes — crib, lap, twin, queen, and king.
Clover Wonder Clips – These handy clips are said to be ideal for seam binding and many other crafts. They open wide to fit many layers of fabrics and since they eliminate pinning, they’re perfect for vinyls and laminates. Would it be wrong if I used them to keep small toddler-sized snacks closed? Standard chip clips are usually too big for little packages, so these would be perfect. 😉
TrueCut TrueGrips Non-Slip Adhesive Rings – I totally stole this description from Amazon, because I have no idea what these are (even after reading it): “Apply these little rings to the back of any ruler to increase safety and cutting accuracy by preventing slipping. True Grips Adhesive Rings are transparent so your project visibility is not impaired. Though designed for quilting these rings work on any ruler and are great for any craft that uses a rotary cutter including scrapbooking and fabrics!” So… there ya go.
Post-Its – Just a fun pack of Post-Its that reads “Keep Life Balanced”, with a drawing of what appears to be a women with sweets in one arm and piles of fabric in the other.
Embroidery Angels Bianca Black 4 Inch Embroidery Scissors – Aww! I love these little scissors! I don’t really need them for embroidery, but I’m sure I’ll find some use for ’em. So cute!
Aurifil Silver Thread – This spool contains 220 yards of Aurifil silver thread. Perfect for… all of your threading needs. 😉
Okay, so obviously I don’t know too much anything about quilting, but I’d be willing to guess that Quilty Crate would be a fun subscription for those of you who do. The fabrics were really pretty and the other items seemed like practical/useful quilting fare. I didn’t do a cost breakdown, so I’m not sure what the total value is, but if you’re a quilter it might be fun to give it a go. Remember — you can save 20% off your first box with coupon code “2LRQC“!
