Rocksbox is a subscription based “try before you buy” jewelry service that allows you to rent or buy pieces from a collection of trendy, yet affordable designers.
Upon signing up, you’ll be asked to complete a style quiz that helps Rocksbox determine the jewelry styles that best suit your needs. You can specify metal type, earring styles, ring size, stone preference, and more. You can also omit jewelry you don’t have a use for — I no longer have pierced ears, so I choose the “no earrings” option.
Disclosure: Box was received for review purposes. Post may contain affiliate/referral links.
At the end of the style quiz, you’ll have a chance to indicate additional preferences — such as designers you like/dislike, any metal allergies, upcoming events, etc. Rocksbox carries popular designers such as Kate Spade, Kendra Scott, Gorjana, Slate, Aster, Sophie Harper, and more.
Next, you can browse all of the available jewelry and add your favorites to your wishlist.
Rocksbox recommends adding at least 30 items to your wishlist so their stylists can start preparing your first box with those selections in mind. There is no limit to how many items you can add. You can also rank your top 10 favorite pieces, which are moved to the top of your wishlist and given preference over the others.
Once your stylist curates your first collection, you’ll receive an email to preview the set and swap out any pieces for others that better suit you. — I LOVE this option, as it ultimately gives you full control over the pieces you receive.
When you receive your box, you can keep and wear the pieces as long as you’d like. The $21/month membership fee allows you to “rent” an unlimited amount of sets in that single-month period. If you decide to purchase any of the pieces, you’ll be able to use the $21 fee right towards the cost of the item(s). Anything you choose to return is simply shipped back to Rocksbox in the pre-paid shipping envelope included with each box.
For a limited time, you can score a full month of Rocksbox for FREE (along with a $21 credit) when you use coupon code “2littlerosebudsxoxo” at checkout!
Okay, let’s check out my June 2020 Rocksbox!
My jewelry was shipped in a white padded envelope via First Class Mail. — Make sure you open it carefully, as you’ll need to use this same envelope to mail back any items you choose not to keep.
All of the pieces were tucked into a little slate-colored boxed tied with a pale pink bow. — Fancy!
The unboxing has begun!
A welcome note provided additional information and tips on getting the most out of the subscription, while a second card included tips for properly caring for your new jewelry.
All of the pieces in my new set were detailed on the sheet above (also shown in the screenshot from my account). It included photos and retail prices vs. member prices for each item, along with any discounts and credits I may have earned. (Members receive $25 in “forever credit” for each person they refer to Rocksbox. This credit can be used to purchase any item(s) in your set. All members always receive special member pricing that’s lower than retail.)
Each piece of jewelry was individually packaged in its own custom drawstring bag.
Ava Rose Carolina Cuff in Silver (Retail:
$60, Member Price: $51)
My first selection was this pretty silver cuff from Ava Rose. I typically choose cuffs over traditional bracelets due to my tiny wrists and the ability to easily tighten them to fit. Sadly, this one was a little too thick/sturdy to bend much and didn’t quite fit as snugly as I wanted. (It actually slid right off through the opening when it moved to the thinner side of my wrist.) I’m kinda bummed about it, because I really wanted to keep this one. Too bad they don’t offer kid’s sizing. 😉
Dusk Siren Pendant in Silver (Retail:
$70, Member Price: $59)
This piece had been on my wishlist since signing up last month, so I was happy to receive it in June’s box. I love jewelry with natural stones/crystals, so this colorful necklace immediately caught my eye. The cluster of natural stones are strung on a 15″ chain (silver over brass) with 3″ extender.
Sophie x Sterling XO Cuff Ring in Silver (Retail:
$65, Member Price: $55)
As with bracelets, I’m also quite fond of cuff-style rings. While I did have this on my wishlist, once I actually got to try it on I decided it was a little too delicate/dainty for my liking. I wore it a few times to “test it out”, but ultimately opted to return it. But that’s the beauty of this subscription — you can try out pieces before you commit to purchasing them, with no pressure to buy a single thing! 🙂
As mentioned earlier, Rocksbox provides a pre-paid shipping label to return any of the items that you don’t want to purchase. Once you’re finished trying them on/out, just place them right back in the box they came in and ship them back so they can start building your next set. Easy!
While I didn’t fall in love with all of the pieces from my Rocksbox set this month, it was still fun to try them out for a bit. Plus, it’s still early enough that I can try out even more sets in June with zero pressure to buy. Score! 🙂 — Remember, for a limited time you can score a full month of Rocksbox for FREE (along with a $21 credit) when you use coupon code “2littlerosebudsxoxo” at checkout!
