Andrea Schroder first began making candles in her kitchen as gifts for friends. She used only the best, all natural ingredients and subtle scents, so it was only right that she would begin offering her goods to a much larger circle… A circle that apparently includes me. (Okay, and anyone else who visits her site.) 😉
Her Candle of the Month Club features one 10.5 ounce candle whose scent reflects the month and season in which it’s delivered. All candles are made with natural coconut oil and essential oils. They contain absolutely no yucky toxins or artificial dyes.
Every box also includes little “bonus” gifts such as limited edition products, travel sized items, and more. Subscriptions are available in 3 month ($99), 6 month ($189), and yearly ($349) memberships.
I was recently sent the September box for review and couldn’t wait to check it out!
First look. The box was pretty heavy and had a nice gift-worthy presentation. It also smelled really, really GOOD. 😉
There’s really no need for a detailed info card, since the main item is obviously the candle of the month. However, they did include a general info card with a list of all of the monthly scents.
September’s candle of the month is “Peach Gardenia“! I wasn’t sure how the two scents would work together, but it’s actually a really pretty blend. I’m not a big fan of strictly floral scents, but luckily the peachiness overpowers the gardenia. I love that it’s made with food-grade coconut oil so I can feel totally comfortable burning it with my girls around. (Out of reach of course, clean-burning candles obviously still, well, burn.)
The candle and its box both feature a poem written by Andrea’s grandmother. Such a nice, personal touch. They also included a cute little box of matches.
There were two “extras” included in September’s box. One of them was this pretty French lavender soap. It’s made with coconut oil and goat’s milk for the ultimate skin softening experience. Since I don’t use animal products I’m going to pass this along to my mom. She’s always jealous of all the fancy bar soaps I get, so I know she’ll gladly take it off my hands.
The second extra gift was this travel candle featuring October’s scent — “Tabac Noir”. I gotta say, I think I might like this even more than the Peach Gardenia! I absolutely love anything that reminds me of autumn and this scent just screams crunchy leaves, crackling fires and cozy sweater weather. LOVE it!!
I am beyond impressed with this box. Of course, it doesn’t hurt that I have a slight obsession with natural, yummy-smelling candles. I honestly can’t think of anything I don’t love about this box though. Well, okay, I could have done without the goat’s milk in the soap. But that was just an “extra” anyway, so no biggie. Otherwise, this was one of the best subscription boxes I’ve gotten in a while!
