The Bare Necessities Bag from Sudz Club is a monthly subscription service that delivers all of your hygienic needs right to your door — or dorm — at a totally affordable price.
Everything you need to keep yourself squeaky clean is shipped inside a reusable drawstring bag featuring the company mascot, Sudz E. Fuzzman. You’ll get shampoo, conditioner, body wash, deodorant, toothpaste, and more!
Packages are $29.99 monthly, or as low as $20.99/mo. with an annual subscription. 3 and 6 month options are also available. (Psst… There’s a 20% discount link at the end of this post!)
I was recently sent a Bare Necessities Bag for review, so let’s see what’s inside!
First, the bag. (Yep, that’s the one and only Sudz E. Fuzzman.) All of the goods were packed snuggly inside. Sudz made sure nothing leaked or exploded during shipping. Good lookin’ out, Sudz!
An included printout listed most of the items in the bag. There were actually a few “extras” that weren’t on the sheet, which was a nice surprise.
Daily Defense Shampoo & Conditioner with Macadamia Oil – Mmm! This stuff smells amazing! I wasn’t sure what macadamia oil would smell like, but now I can’t stop sniffing it. These are big, full sized 16 ounce bottles of both shampoo and conditioner that help to moisturize your hair and eliminate frizz. Yay, macadamia oil!
Daily Defense Body Wash with Macadamia Oil – A full sized (15 ounce) bottle of body wash. As much as I love the scent, I can’t see using the same smelling shampoo, conditioner, and body wash at the same time. Is that weird?
Razz Mini Net Sponge – It says right on the label that you’re supposed to replace net sponges once every 30 days… I know I didn’t do that when I was in college.
Lady Speed Stick Powder Fresh Deodorant – I did make sure I always had a fresh supply of deodorant though, but this subscription has your back if you forget to keep it in check. Oh, and I should note that products will vary for men & women. Men most definitely won’t get Lady Speed Stick in their bag.
Hair Ties – I’ve always had short hair (even buzzed & dyed blue in college), so I never had much of a use for hair ties. I’m sure it’s nice to have extras if you do have a use for ’em though.
Olay Satin Care Shave Gel with Shea Butter – A 2.5 ounce can of shave gel. Is that enough for a full month? I’ve never used shave gel, so I really have no clue…
Gillette 2 Twin Blade Razors (3 pack) – I go through razors like crazy, so this is definitely one item that I wish the bag included more of. I’m pretty sure that I went through at least one razor a week in college too.
Listerine Ultraclean Antiseptic – With all the junk food and other questionable things consumed in college, mouth wash is always good to have on hand. Though if used daily, this most definitely wouldn’t last an entire month.
Colgate Triple Action Toothpaste – Yep, gotta have toothpaste. Definitely a month’s supply here.
Colgate Extra Clean Toothbrush – I’m still guilty of not replacing my toothbrush often enough, so getting a new one every month would definitely help me be less scummy.
Scotch Brite Printed Mini Lint Roller – I’ve never seen lint rollers with printed designs on ’em. Cute! This wasn’t listed on the info sheet, so I’m guessing it’s a bonus item.
NYC Long Wearing Nail Enamel in Pink Promenade Creme – Another bonus item? This is a pretty pink polish that I’ll definitely be trying out soon.
I would have loved to have gotten a Sudz Club Bare Necessities subscription in college! My budget was extremely limited (er, non-existent) and what little money I did scrape together I preferred to use on important stuff like muffins & pizza.
The only thing I could see changing is the ability to customize the bags to better suit each individual. Like offering a few different brands/formulas of shampoo & conditioner, body wash, deodorant, etc. to choose from. Or maybe the ability to choose your own “extras”.
If you’d like to sign up for the Bare Necessities bag, you can save 20% off your order when you use the code that pops up! (Hurry — offer expires 11/8!)
September 2014 Sudz Club Review
This is a great subscription for college kids. Students don’t wanna spend their money on boring hygiene supplies. *yawn* A little more customization would be nice though.
