Let’s see what’s in the May 2016 SilverSpoon Gourmet Tasting Box!
The box!
A peek inside.
The theme for May’s box was “Taste the Rainbow” and included a variety of products to add more color to your plate. An info card listed all of the items inside, along with brief descriptions for each one.
The featured recipe was for Blueberry Bourbon BBQ Ribs.
Bravado Spice Co. Pineapple Habanero Hot Sauce – I don’t think I’ve ever tried a hot sauce that included pineapple as a main ingredient. — Sounds interesting! This sauce is vegan-friendly and made with all natural ingredients including pineapple, habanero, yellow bell pepper, and white wine vinegar.
SilverSpoon Chopped Red Bell Peppers – This is one BIG jar of dried bell peppers! These are ideal additions to chilis, soups, rice, baked beans, and Creole & Spanish dishes. To use them in recipes with little or no liquid, just re-hydrate ’em by simmering in water for roughly 20 minutes.
The Jam Stand You’re My Boy Blueberry Bourbon Jam – An all natural fruit spread containing just five simple ingredients — blueberries, sugar, pectin, bourbon, and vanilla. I’m thinking this would be amazing on thickly sliced, freshly baked bread. Or even better, vanilla ice cream (vegan of course 😉 ). Mmmm!
SilverSpoon Rainbow Coated Chocolate Chips – Ooh! Can’t go wrong with colorful chocolate chips! These aren’t exactly the healthiest things, but they’re fine for an occasional treat. I’m sure my kiddos will love ’em. 🙂
Brad’s Raw Garlic-ity Split Broccoli Poppers – I’m not a big fan of Brad’s kale chips (or any kale chips), so I was happy when I realized these were actually broccoli poppers. They’re 100% raw, vegan, and soy & gluten-free.
Original Gourmet Lollipops – Two lollipops were also included, but I noticed that both of them had expired in 2015. Since they weren’t listed on the info card as a main item, I wasn’t too bothered by it. (Though I did go and double-check that the other items were all fresh and was happy to see that they were all far from being expired.)
A promotional mouse pad was the final item in the box (again, just a bonus). I work exclusively on a MacBook, so I have no use for this but my husband said he could use a new one so it worked out.
Aside from the expired lollipops, I was happy with my first SilverSpoon box. It had a fun theme and I was pleasantly surprised to find that all of the items were vegan-friendly. I’m looking forward to trying the pineapple hot sauce & blueberry bourbon jam and I know my girls will love the rainbow chocolate chips. 🙂
