I was recently sent a DIY Conditioner Bar Kit for review, so let’s check it out!
Everything was shipped in a medium-sized brown box with the Simply Earth logo on top & the name of the kit on the side.
A peek in the box!
Conditioning Emulsifier
The little emulsifier pellets above are made to help condition the hair and skin. They’ll be melted down and combined with the other provided ingredients to create the conditioner bars.
Round Soap Mold (x4)
In order to make all of the conditioner bars at once, the box included four round silicone soap molds. Each mold is 3 inches in diameter and can hold up to 1.5 ounces of product.
Cetyl Alcohol
Cetyl alcohol is an oil soluble substance that can be added to liquids to make them thicker. It’s ideal to use for making body butters, balms, lotions, and other DIY creations.
Simply Earth Lavender 40/42 Essential Oil
“Lavender 40/42” is a mixture of different batches of lavender essential oil that gives it that classic lavender scent. To achieve this, it contains 40% linalool & 42% linalyl acetate. It has a more floral/traditional scent than the more fruity “Lavender Bulgarian” that Simply Earth also offers. Lavender (in any variant) is great for aiding in sleep, promoting healthy hair & skin, supporting the immune system, soothing head discomfort, and so much more.
Simply Earth Tea Tree Essential Oil
Tea tree is one of the most popular/beloved oils around the world — thanks to its antiseptic, antibacterial, and anti-inflammatory properties. Some of its more common uses include combatting acne, sanitizing, repelling insects, deodorizing, soothing skin inflammation, controlling dandruff, and treating fungal conditions (like athlete’s foot). It has a slightly medicinal scent, with earthy/woody notes.
Cocoa Butter
Cocoa butter is a popular ingredient in skincare products due to its natural moisturizing properties. It’s often used in lotions, creams, lip balms, and body butters to hydrate & soften the skin. It’s 100% natural and has a light, earthy aroma.
Argan Oil
Argan oil is a 100% naturally derived product that works great as a carrier oil. Its softening & nourishing abilities make it an ideal oil to use on your face, body, hair, and even nails.
Shea Butter
Shea butter — a fat extracted from the nut of the African shea tree — is widely used in cosmetics as a moisturizer, salve or lotion. It works as a 100% natural emollient to soften and hydrate the skin.
Geogard ECT
Geogard ECT is an eco-friendly preservative that is made up of safe, natural ingredients. It’s used to extend the shelf life of your DIY skincare products.
Soap Wrap Paper & Labels
Four paper wraps, as well as four label stickers were provided to neatly package your completed conditioner bars.
“Lavender & Tea Tree Conditioner Bars” Recipe Card
The all-important recipe card listed all of the materials needed, along with complete step-by-step instructions (more shown on back, not pictured.)
Okay, time to make some conditioner bars!
The first step was to place the conditioning emulsifier, cetyl alcohol, shea butter, cocoa butter, and argan oil into a microwave-safe bowl.
I heated the bowl at 30-second intervals until all of the ingredients were fully liquified.
As per the instructions, I allowed the mixture to cool until it started to solidify.
At that point, I stirred the rapidly cooling mixture until smooth and added the essential oils & Geogard ECT.
Once the oils were fully incorporated, I carefully spooned the mixture into each of the provided molds and let them continue to cool/harden.
After a couple hours, I popped the completed bars out of their molds and prepared to wrap them.
The final step was to place a label sticker onto each wrapped bar.
All packaged and ready to be used! 🙂
Simply Earth’s new “DIY Conditioner Bar Kit” made it a breeze to create my own naturally scented conditioner bars using eco-friendly, non-toxic ingredients. As with all of Simply Earth’s DIY kits, the instructions were clear and easy to follow. I’ve never used a conditioning bar before, so I’m excited to give these a try! 🙂 — If you’d like to purchase your own “DIY Conditioner Bar Kit“, make sure to use coupon code “WENDYROSE10” at checkout to save 10%!
