Everything was shipped in a small brown box with the Simply Earth logo on top.
A peek inside!
Amber Glass Jars & Labels
First up were two 8-ounce amber glass jars with metal lids that would serve as the vessels for your candle creations. Two self-stick labels were also provided.
DIY Candle Kit
The bag above included enough all natural soy wax to create one 16-ounce or two 8-ounce candles, as well as 2 cotton wicks, 2 wick stickers, and a wick-centering tool.
The rest of the items were tucked into a second, smaller box and included…
Feels Like Home DIY Candle Recipe
The 2-sided card above provided full step-by-step instructions for making the candles. Again, everything needed is included right inside your kit — no other materials required.
Simply Earth Autumn Air Essential Oil Blend
“Autumn Air” is a seasonally inspired blend designed to welcome in the cooler, cozier months of autumn. It contains a warm & spicy combination of lemon, orange, balsam fir, ho wood, and cassia essential oils. It’s definitely one of my favorites!
Simply Earth Homebody Essential Oil Blend
“Homebody” contains a warm & woody combination of ho wood, amyris, copaiba, and vetiver essential oils. When creating this blend, Simply Earth chose oils that evoke an atmosphere of calmness that makes everyone feel at home.
Wooden Stirrer & Wick Centering Tool
The recipe card referred to a “wooden mixing spoon”, so I’m going to assume that the honey dripper above is supposed to be used for stirring. 😉 The other item with the holes is used for centering the wick inside the candle and keeping it from moving while the wax hardens.
Sticker Labels
The final item was a set of stickers to place on your completed candle jars.
Alright, time to make some candles!
To begin, I tore open the bag of wax and retrieved the separately packaged supplies inside (wicks, wick centering tool, and and wick stickers).
Next, I used the wick stickers to securely attach the wicks to the bottom of each jar.
I then placed the bag of wax in the microwave and heated it until fully liquified. It was then poured evenly into each of the jars as shown above.
Then it was time to add the essential oils. — “Autumn Air” for one, “Homebody” for the other.
Good to know: You’ll only need to use 150 drops of each oil, which may sound like a lot but it really isn’t. There will be plenty left to use for other projects/diffusing/etc. 🙂
The wick centering tools were then slid over each wick to keep them in place while the wax hardened.
After letting them set overnight, the wax was fully solidified.
The final steps were to trim the wicks and adhere the labels.
I put the blue labels on the back and the customizable labels on the front. — And with that, my candle DIY was complete! 🙂
Simply Earth’s new “Feels Like Home DIY Candle Kit” makes it incredibly simple to make your own candles at home without having to worry about toxic ingredients. It truly could not have been easier! A major highlight for me was the fact that you’re able to melt the wax right inside of the package it comes in. — No messy, waxy containers to clean! 😀 Oh, and if you’re a fan of fall-inspired scents, “Autumn Air” does not disappoint. SO good! Go buy this kit!! 😉
