My October 2025 Simply Earth box has arrived and this month’s theme is “Home Remedies”!
Simply Earth is a monthly subscription box that sends you a selection of essential oils along with recipes for enjoying them. A peek inside!
An info card (printed on the back of one of the recipe cards) revealed October’s theme: “Home Remedies”. It listed this month’s featured oils, along with any included extras. It also provided a few safety tips for each oil/blend.
A note from Katie — recipe formulator & certified aromatherapist — revealed a bit more about this month’s theme.
October’s recipes provided clear instructions for whipping up the following:
- Warm & Well Aromatherapy Pillow

- Stillness Salve
A sheet of pre-printed stickers was also included for labeling your creations.

Simply Earth Ho Wood Essential Oil
Ho Wood essential oil is derived from the Cinnamomum camphora plant — a large evergreen tree that grows in Asia. Its properties are similar to the endangered rosewood tree, making it a great alternative to rosewood essential oil. Some of its many uses include promoting immunity, soothing the skin, supporting women’s wellness, calming anxiety, and reducing the appearance of breakouts.

Simply Earth Defender Essential Oil Blend
The only blend of October’s box, “Defender” contains a warm & spicy combination of cinnamon (leaf), rosemary, lemon, eucalyptus, and clove (bud) essential oils. It’s designed to kill germs and help to “defend” your immune system by utilizing some of the best essential oils for immune boosting.
Simply Earth Globulus Eucalyptus Essential Oil
The eucalyptus oil above is made from the wood and leaves of the eucalyptus globulus tree. Its scent is described as “clean and herbaceous” and can have a stimulating or energizing effect. Some of its common uses are: supporting respiration, easing seasonal discomfort, promoting immunity, relaxing muscles, and easing itching.
Simply Earth Rose Geranium Essential Oil
Despite sharing almost all of the same qualities with Geranium, Rose Geranium is the type most often preferred for its scent. It’s said to emit the strongest, most superior notes of rose — a scent that can have an uplifting effect on the mood.
Dried Lavender Flowers
A package of fragrant dried lavender buds was included to be used in making the “Warm & Well Aromatherapy Pillow”. Lavender buds can also be used in a variety of DIY recipes such as bar soaps, potpourri, bath salts, and more.
Perfumer’s Alcohol
This bottle of 190 proof grain alcohol is a perfect high proof alcohol base for solubilizing essential oils in perfumes, room sprays, and more. It will be utilized in this month’s recipes for “Tranquil Bloom Perfume” and “Everyday Guard Spray”.
Aromatherapy Rice Bag
A small fillable pillow (white) and pillowcase (patterned) were provided to make a soothing hot/cold rice bag. Both are made of 100% cotton and should be hand washed when needed.
Here are the recipes that I’ve made so far:
Stillness Salve
Supplies needed: Beeswax*, Coconut Oil (Solid)*, Ho Wood Essential Oil, Eucalyptus Essential Oil, Rose Geranium Essential Oil, and a 2oz container.

The first step was to place the required amounts of solid coconut oil & beeswax into a microwave-safe bowl and warm it (in 30-second increments) until fully melted.
Once liquified, the essential oils could be added.
The mixture was then poured into a small container, where it was allowed to cool.
After an hour or so, the mixture had fully set and was ready to use.
The final step was to replace the lid and slap the provided label on top. To use the salve, you simply rub a small amount onto your chest, shoulders, or wrists for a soothing scent and hydrated skin.
Autumn Armor Diffuser Blend
Supplies needed: Defender Essential Oil Blend, Ho Wood Essential Oil, and Rose Geranium Essential Oil.
The easiest of all the recipes, this one simply required me to fill my diffuser with water and add the specified amount drops of each of the essential oils above. Once added, I switched on the diffuser and let the autumn-inspired aroma fill the room.
Autumn Armor Master Blend
Every monthly diffuser recipe also comes with instructions for making a “master blend” that gives you a pre-made supply to use as you wish.
Supplies needed: Defender Essential Oil Blend, Ho Wood Essential Oil, Rose Geranium Essential Oil, and a 5 mL bottle*.

All you have to do is pour the specified amount of essential oil into the bottle…
…add the provided stickers — and you’re done!
Fortify Roll-On
Supplies needed: Defender Essential Oil Blend, Ho Wood Essential Oil, Eucalyptus Essential Oil, Fractionated Coconut Oil*, and a 10mL Roll-On Bottle*.

This easy recipe simply involved placing a specified amount of essential oil into the roll-on bottle and filling the rest up with coconut oil.
Then just replace the cap and carefully position the sticker/label & it’s ready to use!
