Jacques and Pam, the husband and wife team behind Sjaak’s, are longtime vegetarians. This is important to note, because in addition to their line of “traditional” confections, they also offer a full line of 100% vegan chocolates for their non-dairy eatin’ customers. (Like me!) 🙂
Sjaak’s was kind enough to send me some of their vegan chocolates to review and I was beyond excited the day the little brown box of goodies arrived on my doorstep. I could not WAIT to open it up and sample all of the vegan-y goodness that awaited inside!
Sjaak’s Dark Chocolate Hearts of Cherry – HOLY. CRAPOLA. These were soooo good! I initially thought they were going to be a chocolate-covered cherry type deal, which I’m not a huge fan of… But nope! These are decadent, cherry-flavored chocolate truffles with the creamiest, yummiest filling inside. SO. GOOD. I only have a couple of ’em left and I’m totally bummed about it. These would make the *perfect* gift for Valentine’s Day. (Are you reading this, husband o’ mine?)
Eli’s Earth Bars – I received all 3 of the available flavors of these bars: Dream Big Bar, Celebrate Bar, and Treasure Bar. Dream Big features caramel, peanuts & peanut butter and reminds me of a vegan version of Snickers. Celebrate has vanilla caramel, coconut & almonds. Treasure is probably my favorite and features peanut butter, toffee, and a layer of caramel, all coated in vegan milk chocolate. Yum!!
Chocolate Peanut Clusters – The name pretty much says it all. These are simply peanut clusters made with organic, vegan “milk” chocolate and organic roasted peanuts. I liked them, but they seemed a little salty to me… Which was odd, since sea salt is the very last ingredient. I think I’m just overly sensitive to salty things. That said, it didn’t stop me from eating half the bag in one sitting. 😉
Various Organic Chocolate Bars – Sjaak’s offers a nice assortment of chocolate bars with various fillings/flavors. I received Dark Chocolate with Creamy Caramel, Dark Chocolate with Raspberry, and Milk Chocolate with Almonds. All were vegan and equally delicious. 🙂 Other flavors available include Milk Chocolate with Peanut Butter and Dark Chocolate with Espresso. Yum!
Needless to say, I absolutely LOVED all of the chocolates I received! (Who wouldn’t?!)

I am a fan of everything chocolate, but I am a huge fan of truffles, so I would hope they would include hearts of chocolate.

I would love to be given a chance to win but the contest is not open to those without a Facebook account. I wish this was not the case because it does not allow an opportunity for everyone to enter.
