Smile Designed is a new subscription box that delivers a monthly selection of items to help comfort, inspire, and bring a smile to you or someone you love.
Each month you (or a loved one) will receive 5 to 7 hand-selected items to brighten your day and put a smile on your face. When you sign up, you’ll be asked some questions to help Smile Designed choose products that will best suit you or the recipient. Items can include snacks, products that bring comfort/relief, and things to cheer you up and keep you busy.
Subscriptions are $39.95/month and they offer a few different box options including vegan (woo!), gluten-free, and Christian-focused. One time boxes are also available. (Right now you can save 10% on your first month with coupon code “FIRSTBOX10“!)
Let’s see what’s in the September 2015 Smile Designed box!
The box was shipped via priority mail and featured some uplifting quotes stamped in blue ink. My favorite is “One of the secrets of a happy life is continuous small treats”. SO true.
A peek inside. Very fall-ish! There wasn’t an info card, so I’ll just get right to the goods…
Better Oats Apples & Cinnamon Steel Cut Oats – I figured I should start with the items in the “peek inside” photo. This packet of steel cut oatmeal didn’t have a brand name on it, but with a little Googling I found out that it’s from Better Oats. It contains all natural ingredients including steel cut oats, dried apple pieces, and flaxseed.
Alpine Spiced Apple Cider – I love apple cider, but I definitely prefer the real stuff in those plastic jugs as opposed to powdered mixes. However, I’m totally willing to give this a try when I have a craving for cider and no “real stuff” is around.
Green Dip Bowl – The bottom of this bowl had a Threshold for Target sticker on it, which I kinda wasn’t expecting to see in a subscription box. (I really don’t mind though — sure beats dollar store items!) The bowl is a sturdy glazed stoneware and the color is perfect for fall. You can use this for just about anything… dips, snacks, jewelry, whatever.
White Lace Arm Warmers – These are super cute and another great “fall” item. I tried them on, and while they’re cozy, they’re definitely more for fashion than to keep warm. A perfect accessory for autumn weather.
Lucia’s Candle Cottage Cinnamon Apple Soy Wax Tarts – More autumn-y goodness! These apple cinnamon scented tarts are made with natural soy wax and they smell awesome.
Shutterbug Jewels Necklace – Shutterbug Jewels makes handcrafted jewelry in which they incorporate their original photographs into each piece. The colorful autumn leaves featured on this necklace were an ideal choice for this box! Pretty!
If you know anyone who may be going through a hard time and could use a little encouragement or comfort, a Smile Designed box would be a great (and easy!) way to cheer them up. It definitely felt like a care package from a friend and I love that they even let you choose dietary options. I didn’t do a cost breakdown, since some of the items were hard to determine prices for, but I think a box like this is more about the personalization/curation than the total monetary value.
