August 2016 YumeTwins unboxing time!
If you’re not aware, YumeTwins is a new subscription box that sends you a collection of cute Japanese items every month. Each box will consist of 8 to 10 yume kawaii inspired items sent straight from Japan. Yume kawaii is a new kawaii movement that is a mixture of cuteness and fairytales, with a touch of darkness. Yume itself means “dream”, so not only does yume kawaii center around cute styles, but it also has a magical dreamy feel to it. Items can include plushies, keychains, stationery, squishies, candy, collectible figures, wearables, accessories, and more. All products are from officially licensed brands/franchises such as Sanrio, Sailor Moon, Re-Ment, Amuse, Ban Dai, Takara Tomy, and more.
Subscriptions are $23.99/month (plus $6 shipping), or less with multi-month commitments. — Through October 12th, you can get a FREE Premium Kit Kat Box with 4 different flavors (valued at $30) with any 6-month subscription OR a box with 8 different flavors (valued at $60) with any 12-month subscription!
Let’s see what’s in the August 2016 YumeTwins box!
The box got a bit damaged in transit, but thankfully the contents were all unharmed. 🙂
A peek inside!
A full color info booklet included photos of the latest pop culture trends in Tokyo, contests, and a full run-down of all the items featured in August’s “Lovable Animals” box.
Amuse Alpacasso Plush – Aww! An alpaca in a tutu! As much as I’d love to keep this for my girls (or myself), I’m going to give it to my niece’s daughter who is obsessed with alpacas. I’ll be seeing her this weekend for her birthday party, so awesome timing. 🙂
Re-Ment Mare Sweets Mascot – According to the info booklet, Mare is a popular tv drama in Japan. These charms were a collaboration between Re-Ment and Mare. From the quick skim I did of the Mare Wikipedia page, it looks like it’s about a girl with an obsession for cakes… or baking… or… something along those lines. Either way, all of the charms are sweets-themed and I received the chocolate-strawberry roll thing. 😉
Pompompurin Letter Set – A cute Pompompurin letter set that features 12 colorful letter pages, 6 envelopes, and 6 character stickers — including Hello Kitty with a donut! Cute!
Pompompurin Pen – Subscribers could have received a pen featuring Gudetama, Hello Kitty, or Pompompurin. I would have preferred Hello Kitty, but this is cute too and it goes with the letter set. 🙂
Airou and Merarou Towel – This bright pink mini towel depicts the characters from the popular Japanese series, Monster Hunter. According to the info booklet, this can only be purchased at the Tokyo Tower or Kaminarimon in Asakusa.
Neko Atsume Memo Pad – Ahh! I’ve been hoping to get something Neko Atsume themed! This pad is adorable and features four different designs including some of the more beloved cats from the app — like Tubbs and Conductor Whiskers! Yay!
Shinada Fluffy Animal Plush – Subscribers could have received a few different versions of this soft plush toy. I got the teddy bear, complete with real wooden buttons. Cute!
Gudetama Limp Mascot – Okay, this is a little creepy… It’s a super squishy, liquid-filled egg with a Gudetama character floating around inside. He had sort of a weird chemical smell, so back into his egg crate he went. Sorry, egg dude.
More fun Japanese kawaii items from YumeTwins! My favorite items this time were the Neko Atsume pad, alpaca plush, kitty washcloth, and little bear plush. — Remember, through October 12th, you can get a FREE Premium Kit Kat Box with 4 different flavors (valued at $30) with any 6-month subscription OR a box with 8 different flavors (valued at $60) with any 12-month subscription!
