Tea Sparrow is a subscription service for — you guessed it — loose leaf teas. The Tea Sparrow team diligently samples various blends from around the globe. When they find their favorites, they pack ’em up and send them along to their lucky subscribers.
Every month you’ll receive four pouches of hand-selected teas — enough to make up to 35 cups. Subscriptions are $20/month (less with longer commitments) with free shipping to the continental US and Canada. There’s also an option to pause/restart your sub whenever you’d like.
Tea Sparrow kindly sent me January’s box o’ tea to review. This month’s selections were all about new year’s resolutions and included teas with key ingredients that help keep you healthy. Let’s checka-check it out!
Rishi Ginger Lime Rooibos – I love ginger anything, so I was happy to see a ginger tea. This is an herbal blend with Organic Fair Trade green rooibos, organic ginger, and other (all organic) herbs/spices.
I was excited to try this blend, so i decided to document the brewing process for fun(?).
Here’s my pouch o’ tea with its trusty friend, the loose leaf tea infuser. (I should probably note that Tea Sparrow does NOT send infusers in their boxes — so make sure you pick one up first!)
I poured out some of the tea to properly showcase its loveliness. That’s some lovely tea, no?
I measured a tablespoon-ish out and stuck it in the infuser. Here it is… infusing.
Ta-da! We have freshly brewed (and super tasty) tea! ๐
Rishi Blueberry Rooibos – This is another herbal rooibos blend that combines Organic African Rooibos with wild blueberries. It’s said to have a great sweet flavor that can be enjoyed hot or iced. I’ve yet to try it, but it sounds like a fruity good time.
Samovar Pineapple Coconut Oolong – This one’s a green tea with a nice tropical twist. It’s a blend of Organic Oolong from Taiwan, coconut flakes, and natural pineapple/coconut flavor (all organic). I think I’m going to save this one for the warmer, tropical-er months.
Numi Chocolate Pu-erh – Last but not least, a black tea — with chocolate! This is a blend of pu-erh and rooibos, along with cocoa powder, cocoa nibs, vanilla, orange peel, nutmeg, and cinnamon. All ingredients are organic and delicious.
So there you have it! January’s Tea Sparrow box selections. I loved the blends they selected, especially since they were all such flavorful combinations. I’m not a big fan of Earl Gray, English Breakfast tea, and teas of that sort, so I was happy to get so many “fun” flavors. ๐
If you’re interested in trying out Tea Sparrow for yourself, they’re currently offering a great deal for new subscribers. You can save 60% on your first box when you click here and use the promo code “TEAS” at checkout.

My favorite time to enjoy a cup of tea at this time of year is right after work, when I’m coming in from the cold.
But the real answer is any time. There is never a wrong time to enjoy a cup of tea.
