TetherBox is a subscription box that sends college students a specially curated care package 4 times per semester.
Each box will consist of 5 to 7 items — all of which are approved by student ambassadors from colleges around the country. Items can include snacks, personal care products, fun & useful gadgets, and more. When you sign up, you’ll have the option of choosing the gender of the recipient so TetherBox can send the products most suited to each individual. You can also let them know of any food allergies the recipient has so that allergen-free products can be substituted.
Disclosure: I received this box for review purposes. I was not compensated in any way. All opinions are my own. Post may contain affiliate and/or referral links.
Subscriptions are $28.65/month, $114.60/semester (prepaid, 4 boxes), or $197.20/school year (prepaid, 8 boxes).
Let’s see what’s in the December 2016 TetherBox!
The box!
A peek inside.
A short letter informed me that this was their “Finals Survival” box, while an info card listed all of the items inside along with a brief description and retail value for each one.
Lala’s Gourmet Cookies Chocolate Cookie Shot ($3) – A chocolate chip cookie “shooter” that you can eat as is or enjoy with a shot of your favorite beverage in the hallowed out middle. Cool!
Starbucks Coffee Gourmet Hot Cocoa ($1.40) – Stressful times call for lots of chocolate. 😉 Use these handy packets to make a big mug of comforting cocoa or go all out and add some to your cookie shooter. Note: The info card listed these as K-cups, but being that not all college students have access to a pod brewer, these packets are actually a better choice anyway.
Smart Phone Universal Clip Lens ($7.99) – These cool smart phone lenses work with most smart phones, as well as iPads, tablets, laptops, and more. Just clip them on and snap away. Kit includes wide angle, macro, and fisheye. Cool!
Little White Feather Lace Headband ($12) – A stretchy lace headband handmade by a team of five sisters who sell them in various colors in their Etsy shop. Not really my style, but it’s pretty nonetheless. 🙂
ReGrained Honey Almond IPA Bar ($3.76) – ReGrained bars are made with “spent” grain sourced from breweries in San Francisco. These grains have the same amount of protein as almonds and 3 times as much fiber as oats. Other ingredients include almonds, organic honey, organic puffed quinoa, organic oats, organic puffed brown rice, and organic ground flax.
St. Tropica Coconut Hot Oil Hair Masks ($10 for 2) – These coconut hot oil hair masks are chemical/paraben/sulfate-free and are made with 100% organic ingredients. They contain “hair superfoods” including virgin coconut oil, coconut butter, biotin, horsetail, and green tea. To use, just heat the BPA-free pouch in the microwave, apply to scalp, cover, and leave on for 20 minutes or overnight.
Nootrobox Go Cubes Chewable Coffee ($2) – A gluten-free/vegan-friendly chewable coffee alternative with the equivalent of two cups of coffee per pack. The info card listed this at $7.98, but I found them for $2 on both Amazon and the Go Cubes website. (Update: I was told that the box was supposed to include TWO packs of these. Still, that would be about $4, not $8.)
TetherBox Stress Ball ($3) – Squeeze that stress away with this TetherBox stress ball!
Candy Canes – A few candy canes were also included in the box as a festive holiday bonus. 🙂
TetherBox is a fun subscription box for college students and really anyone in their late teens to early-mid 20’s. There was a nice mix of products that included tasty snacks/beverages as well as useful non-edible items. The total retail value was roughly $40, which is a little more than the cost of the monthly subscription. 🙂
