The Better Beauty Box is a newer subscription box that curates a monthly selection of natural and non-toxic products especially for teens and tweens.
Each box will contain an assortment of both full and trial sized beauty, skin care, and cosmetics products that are chosen with teens/tweens in mind. Items can include nail polish, facial masks, lip balms, body lotions, cosmetics, and more. Boxes will typically contain at least 5 products, with 1-3 of those items being makeup. (For those who prefer more skin care type items, they also have a “makeup free” box option.)
Subscriptions are $20/month ($16/mo for “makeup free”) and shipping is included.
Let’s see what’s in the December 2015 Better Beauty Box!
The box! Definitely “teen friendly” without being too cutesy.
A peek inside. So many squigglies!
An info sheet pasted to the inside lid of the box detailed all of the items inside, along with their retail prices.
Kiss My Face Moisturizing Spray in Olive & Aloe ($9.99) – I’ve never seen lotion in a spray can before… I was a little surprised to see it was from a brand like Kiss My Face, since I assumed this type of packaging wasn’t very eco-friendly. Turns out it’s chemical-free, air-powered, and recyclable. Oh, and the formula itself is paraben, phthalate, fragrance, and cruelty free!
Makes 3 Organic Chocolate Peppermint Lip Balm ($5.25) – Oooh! This smells SO good! It’s an all natural lip balm made with certified organic ingredients including coconut oil, cocoa butter, and peppermint essential oil. It smells just like an Andes Candy mint!
Essie Sleek Stick Nail Appliques in “So Haute!” ($10.25) – I know people are all about these nail sticker type things, but they’re just not for me. Of course, I’ve never actually tried them… I just imagine it being more of a hassle to prep your nails & shape the stickers, as opposed to just brushing some polish on. While I would have loved to receive a bottle from Essie, these were still a nice inclusion for a holiday mani (for someone else 😉 ).
Earth Kiss Clean Up Mud Exfoliate Mud Mask ($2.99) – A 100% natural face mask made with Mediterranean clay, volcanic pumice, rosemary, and other plant and herb-based ingredients. Face masks are always a nice treat to indulge in while relaxing in the tub. 🙂
Jordana Dramatic Effects Mascara ($2.99) – Unlike the other items in this box, this mascara doesn’t look to be very natural/non-toxic. A quick look at their website revealed that it contains parabens and other questionable ingredients. (Edit 1/6/16: It was brought to my attention that I was looking at the info for a different blue mascara on their site (“Electric Blue”). This one, “Sapphire Chic” is paraben-free, yet is still not considered natural.) It’s great that it’s made in the USA, but the formula leaves a lot to be desired.
Other than the aforementioned mascara, I thought December’s Better Beauty Box was great! The products were all great for teens/tweens, yet would still be suitable for those in their 20’s & 30’s. It was nice to see a more “grown-up”, yet classy box for teens. Plus, the value was decent too — over $31 in products!
Disclosure: I received this box for review purposes. I was not compensated in any way. All opinions are my own. Post may contain affiliate and/or referral links.

I had thoughts about that Jordanna mascara…its usually in the dollar store/general and its anything but natural or organic! Everything else looks great for this beauty box!
