The Book(ish) Box is a new monthly subscription box founded by the team behind the book review site, Appraising Pages.
Each Book(ish) Box is curated with the “book nerd” in mind and will include a fun selection of geeky, “bookish” items. Every shipment will feature an exclusive t-shirt designed by the Appraising Pages shop, as well as 3-5 home, beauty, and fashion items.
Subscriptions are $29.99 plus shipping and each box is promised to have a value of at least $50.
Let’s see what’s in my June Book(ish) Box!
The box! I love their cute typewriter logo.
A peek inside… The custom tissue paper is a nice touch. I don’t think I’ve seen any other box do this. You go, Book(ish) Box!
The theme for June’s box is “Flashback Fiction”.
The info card listed all of the items, along with a brief description. I do wish they would have included a little more information, like where the items can be found online — especially since they’re from smaller businesses. No biggie though, I’ll just consult Mr. Google.
Appraising Pages T-Shirt – I love the color combo of this shirt and thought the quote (“Without the dark we’d never see the stars”) was a nice, positive message. I had no idea it was a Twilight thing until i read the info card. I’ve never read the books or seen the movies — vampires aren’t really my jam — but it’s still a cute shirt nonetheless.
Frostbeard Studio “Old Books” Candle – Yay! I’m always happy to see candles in subscription boxes. Despite the name, this little soy candle doesn’t actually smell like musty old paperbacks. Instead, it has a sweet, earthy scent that’s the perfect accompaniment to a lazy day spent curled up with a book.
GeekTat Temporary Tattoos – Book-inspired temporary tattoos! This set features designs inspired by The Perks of Being a Wallflower, The Giving Tree, and Harry Potter. I remember that Perks quote really hitting home when I read the book in my early-mid 20’s. Ah, youth.
Trelawney’s Terrible Tea Leaves – I wasn’t able to find anything about this online, other than the Instagram account listed on the label (@livingbooksnook). I’m guessing it’s just an Instagram-based shop? Either way, this is a Harry Potter inspired tea blend that consists of peppermint, organic catnip, organic chamomile, organic lemon balm & organic passion flower.
Ursula Uriarte Alice in Wonderland Postcard – I couldn’t find this item online either. Just a fun postcard to send to your fellow book-loving buds.
Overall, I was pretty happy with June’s Book(ish) Box. I’m not sure of the total value of all the items, since many of them were hard to find online, but it seems like a fair monthly price. Maybe one more item would have rounded it out better? Curation-wise, I think it was a great box. The shirt’s cute and I love the candle.
The June box is totally sold out, so if you want to get July’s box, go join the waitlist ASAP! 🙂

Oh my gosh, I want that tea! For Christmas I bought my brother a Butterbeer candle from Frostbeard and it smells good enough to eat! I also bought a Dr Who themed one for my friend and they loved it.
