The Disc Golf Box Company (DGBXCO) is a subscription box that sends you discs and other disc golf related items every month.
Each box will feature two high quality discs (or more depending on which plan you choose), as well as fun extras like sunglasses, towels, t-shirts, and more. When you sign up, you’ll take a survey that lets them know your skill level and preferences so they can send you the items that best suit your needs.
Subscriptions start at $29.99/month and are available monthly, bi-monthly, and quarterly. You can also buy a one-time “Entry Level” box that comes with one disc and a bunch of swag for $22.99. — This is the box I’ll be reviewing below.
Let’s see what’s in my September 2015 “Entry Level” Disc Golf Box Co box!
The box!
An enclosed info sheet listed everything inside the box along with a brief description of each item.
Discraft Buzzz Elite Z Midrange Disc Golf Disc – The info card describes this as “the perfect all around disc” — ideal for beginners as well as seasoned players. It gets great reviews on Amazon, where it sells for just under $16. I’ve only played disc golf once (like 10 years ago), so I have no idea what the different weights, rims, etc. mean. Also we called it “frisbee golf”, which I’m guessing hardcore disc golf players would roll their eyes at.
Water Bottle – A bright green water bottle that sports the DGBXCO logo. It’s BPA-free and holds 12 ounces of your preferred liquid refreshment.
Bottle Tap Can Topper – This handy little cap fits over the top of any standard size can (soda, energy drink, etc) to give you the convenience of opening and closing it at will. Bonus: It’ll also help keep the bugs out!
DGBXCO Towel – A terry cloth towel featuring the DGBXCO logo and a metal hook to attach it to your bag. Discs can get dirty. You can too. Towels are your friends.
Stickers – A window decal and sticker from independent disc golf companies were included for your sticking pleasure. Giggity.
Extras – Each box comes with random “extras” every month. Mine included a pair of black and red sunglasses with the DGBXCO logo on the side, as well as a blue “This is why we play.” wristband.
The Disc Golf Box Co. subscription is an obvious winner for disc golf players or anyone who’d like to give the sport a try. All of the items would definitely come in handy on the course and while I didn’t do a cost breakdown, I’d say the value is certainly there. More-so if you sign up for the monthly box which includes 2 discs — with most discs selling for $15 or more, you’ll absolutely get more than your money’s worth.
