Let’s see what’s in the May 2016 Threads Monthly box!
The box was shipped in a bright purple mailer via priority mail.
A peek inside!
An info card revealed the theme for May — “How can you say no to boho?” — and listed all of the items in the box, along with retail prices for each one.
V-Neck Tunic Blouse ($26.99) – I’m not much of a tunic person… or a shirt person really, since I seriously wear dresses 99.9% of the time. That aside, I decided to try this on anyway and quickly realized that it made me feel (and look?) like a mental patient. The stitched v-neck and oversized fit just didn’t do it for me. I was kinda hoping for a t-shirt that I could at least wear to bed. 😉
Oversized Sunglasses ($12) – May’s featured accessory was a pair of black oversized sunglasses. I noticed that these are also available in their online shop and are selling for just $5. Actually, all of this month’s accessories are for sale in the shop at way lower prices than listed on the info card. It definitely makes me feel that the values on the card are way overinflated. Either way, these glasses are cute. Maybe not $12 cute, but cute. 😉
Beaded Feather Necklace ($11.99) – Again, this was listed as having a much higher value than what they’re selling it for in the shop ($5). It’s also broken/missing a piece… The photo in the shop shows two feathers with 2 beads on the left and right sides. Mine is missing both a bead and a feather on the left. Thankfully, this necklace isn’t really my style, so I’m not all that bummed about the missing pieces.
Diamond Bangles ($5.90) – I think these bangles are my favorite item(s?) in the box. I like that they’re not gold and the “diamond” accents add a nice bit of sparkle. Unfortunately, they’re a bit too large for my teeny wrists. 🙁
Makeup Pouch ($7.99) – This zipped makeup pouch was listed as a “bonus” item for May. It’s pretty flimsy, which I normally wouldn’t mention since it is just a bonus… but the fact that the listed value was $7.99 seemed a bit crazy for what it is.
While I think the values on the info card are very overinflated, I actually don’t think Threads Monthly was that bad of a box. The fact that they send a shirt, an accessory, and two jewelry items for $25 shipped is actually a pretty fair deal. The items clearly aren’t high end, but they don’t claim that they will be. As long as you’re not too picky about brand names, it’s an affordable box for adding new pieces to your wardrobe.

May 2016 Threads Monthly Review
While most of the items in this month’s box weren’t my style and I was little bothered by the overinflated prices on the info card, I still didn’t think the box was all that bad. Especially for those who are into the boho look. I think if they were more honest about the actual values of the items I would have had a more favorable view of them. (Bonus item or not, there’s no way that makeup pouch retails for $7.99!)
