A few weeks ago, I wrote a post about a new subscription box called Taste Trunk. If you didn’t get to read it (for shame!), you can check it out right over here.
Basically, it’s a monthly box jam-packed with carefully selected, high quality yummies. You can choose from 4 different “trunks”, which you can bounce between at your will: Sweet Trunk, Health Trunk, Gourmet Trunk, and BBQ Trunk.
I ordered the Health Trunk, since it was the box with the most vegan options. When I mentioned my veganism to Dawn (co-founder of Taste Trunk), she offered to swap out the non-vegan options and replace them with vegan ones. She also gave me a few vegan items from the “Sweet Trunk” so I could try them out too (items are marked with an asterisk). So nice!!
My box arrived today via priority mail and the thing was SO HEAVY. As any box addict knows, heavy boxes are always a good sign.
I was very impressed by the packaging. See that little circle on the bottom right of the lid? It’s a wax seal! How fancy is that? The little package on top contained a stack of information cards with background info on some of the companies, as well as a few recipes. Nice touch!
Hot Cakes Molten Chocolate Cakery Vegan Caramel Sauce* – This is the item that I’m most excited about trying. I haven’t had caramel sauce in years. This is made with coconut & hemp milk instead of dairy and they craft it the old fashioned way, in small batches. I cannot WAIT to try this stuff! (Retail Price: $12.00)
Cocomels Coconut Milk Caramels in Sea Salt* – Yes!! I keep seeing these in other sub boxes and have been hoping to get them myself someday. That day has finally come! Woo! These are made in copper kettles with “simple ingredients”. They’re gluten free, GMO free, and soy/corn-free. (That’s alotta “frees”!) I’m kind of nervous about tasting these and falling in love… The price for one package (5 pieces) is a wee bit much. Yikes! These are some seriously fancy candies! (Amazon Price: $6.49)
Justin’s Almond Butter in Chocolate & Maple – Yet another product that I’ve always wanted to try! These are nut butters made with simple, all-natural ingredients. They sell jars of this stuff at our local grocery store, but I’m always too cheap to try them. (Well, my husband is!) Now I can try it without committing to a whole jar. Gnarly. (Estimated price for sample sizes: $2.00)
Teatulia Tulsi Infusion Tea (16 count) – I just got this brand of tea in my Juniper box the other day, so I was already a little familiar with it. It’s organic and imported from a single garden in Bangladesh. All of the packaging (including the teabags) are totally compostable. Very cool. (Amazon Price: $8.99)
GloryBee Foods Honey (or Agave?) Sticks – There was a product card included for these, but it didn’t specify whether they’re honey or agave (both of which are offered by GloryBee). This company sells more varieties of honey sticks than anyone else (over 27 natural flavors). (Amazon Price: roughly $2.08)
Dang Toasted Coconut Chips – Whaaaa?! More Dang coconut chips! I just got these in my Juniper box and instantly fell in love! They are so so good. If you like coconut, you’ll love these lil’ chips. As mentioned in my other review, they kinda look like an old man’s toenail clippings. It’s true. But they’re the tastiest toenail clippings I’ve ever had! Wait… What? Bottom line: These are awesome. Go get some. (Amazon Price: roughly $3.21)
Nibnaks in Apple Cosmo, Under the Boardwalk, and Crancherry Tart** – These are old school “health foods” — plain ol’ nuts & fruit. Simple. Healthy. Delicious. All of the ingredients are sourced from local, family-run organic farms in California. Need another reason to try them? They’re called Nibnaks! How could you NOT want to eat something called Nibnaks? “Honey, pass me my Nibnaks…” Awesome. (Retail Price: Roughly $2.20 for 3)
Thoughtful Food Giddy Up & Go Granola “Seriously Seedy” & “Notoriously Nutty” – This granola looks SO good. I love granola with lots of “stuff” in it. Thoughtful Food was started by a mom who found herself (as well as her children) ill due to the foods that they were eating. She began researching different diets and ultimately helped to cure her family of their health issues. This yummy granola is a result of her journey. It’s all natural, organic, dairy/gluten-free, and made with wholesome ingredients. Yum! (Amazon Price: Roughly $3.18 for 2)
“The Jam Stand” Drunken Monkey Jam** – Well, this is something different. Small batch jam made with “sugar coated bananas, a splash of rum and a dash of lime”. This is made in Brooklyn, NY using fresh fruit sourced from local farms. No idea what I’m going to use this on… Vanilla soy ice cream? (Amazon Price: Roughly $1.88)
Vigilant Eats Organic Oat-Based Cereal – I’ve gotten one of these in a Vegan Cuts box, but I still haven’t given it a try. I’m just a little hesitant, since I’m not much of an oatmeal fan and the whole “just add cold water” thing seems odd to me. I’ll make it a point to try one soon though… I promise. They sound very filling & hearty. I’ll probably end up loving it and wish I had tried it sooner… (Amazon Price: $8.00 [$3.99 each])
Peeled Snacks Apple Clusters -I’ve gotten a couple of these before in other boxes. They’re not bad, but I prefer the flavored ones (berry was really good). These ones are made with apples, apple juice concentrate, and potato starch. That’s it. Gluten-free & 100% organic. (Amazon Price: roughly $1.00 for this sample size)
Nunes Farms Sweet Chipotle Almonds – These sound tasty! Grown on a family ranch in California, these nuts go right from farm to market. No scary preservatives and nothing artificial. Just sweet & spicy nutty goodness. (Amazon Price: roughly $2.50 for this sample size)
SO MUCH vegan goodness!! I paid around $20 for my box (with a discount — I’ll get to that in a sec)… All totaled, the items in this box came to $33.04! (With the extras it was $53.53!) Not bad at all!!
If you’d like to get your own monthly “trunk”, head to their site and use the code “2littlerosebuds25” to save 25% off your first month! Woohoo!
*This item was included as an “extra” from the Sweet Trunk.

This looks good! I think I might try this but the sweets one next month!

If I wasn’t vegan, I’d be all over that sweets trunk! 😉
Make sure you use my code for 25% off! I’d really appreciate it if you mentioned my name in the referral section too! 🙂

After seeing the trunks I don’t know which one to try! Its between health and sweet trunk. I am thinking health since I want to try OrangeGlad 🙂

I’m excited to try it! This box was a lot better than what I was expecting! 🙂

LOVE the Dang chips! Didn’t try the Nibnaks yet, but they look good. I think both of those were pictured in the example Health Trunk on their site, so chances are good that you’ll get ’em too. 🙂

Is the Health truck always vegan or do you have to request this? Looks like a great box and I couldn’t help laugh about the toe nail clippings 🙂
Wendy Rose
No, none of the boxes are exclusively vegan (though I think they may be working on one that is)… When I mentioned my veganism, they were nice enough to swap out the non-vegan items for vegan ones. But I WAS told that all of the items in the “regular” Health Trunk this month were vegan except 2 or 3. 🙂

I find it interesting that the Giddy Up & Go granola uses the font called “Giddy Up” to write Giddy Up on its package.
Wendy Rose
Oh, the irony! 😉

I knew it would be a little different since yours is vegan, but we got pretty much the same thing. Except instead of the Carmel sauce, jam, almond butter, and cocomels we got one more bag of nuts and another granola. You also got three bags of the NibNAKS and we got one. Your box was the reason I joined so a little disappointed.
Wendy Rose
Aw, I’m sorry! I think they may have thrown in a few extra vegan sweets for me because I inquired about the Sweet Trunk (and most of the items in it weren’t vegan). On a better note, I tried both of the granola flavors the other day and they were SO good. I’m jealous that you got 3. The chipotle almonds were tasty too, if you got those. You can always switch to a different trunk to see what else they offer… They just added the option to switch on their site. 🙂

It is a different brand of granola though and my other almonds are Maui onion flavored. The value of my box is $32. I am excited about trying the goodies, but not sure yet.
