Is it weird that one of the boxes I was most looking forward to this month was a period box? That’s right, a period box. For like, menstruation and stuff. Lemme ‘splain…
Juniper is a subscription box that makes your monthly visit from dear “Aunt Flo” a little more bearable. No, they don’t just send you tampons and pads. I would NOT be excited solely over feminine hygiene supplies… I’m not that weird. (Am I?)
Aside from the personalized bundle of “monthly essentials” (you can choose tampons and/or pads — in any combination), you also get a nice assortment of treats. Heck yeah! The selection varies every month, but from what I’ve seen they usually always include samples of tea, pain relief, sweets, and some kind of non-edible. I’ve also noticed that at least one item always seems to be vegan (besides the tea). Woo!
I was so happy when I found out that I’d be getting a box for review. Customer service was awesome and let me change my preference from “tampons with pad backup” to just straight pads (tampons are not my friends). I didn’t realize that was even an option before, so I was glad I wasn’t going to end up with a bunch of tampons I didn’t need. (Sidenote: In grammar school my friend and I took some of my sister’s tampons, stuck them on our fingers and drew scary faces on them — tampon ghost finger puppets! Yeah, I’ve always been a weirdo.)
Onto the goodies!
I loved that the box was so FULL. The reusable bags/pouches were a nice, cute touch.
Teatulia Teas – 3 loose leaf teabags in white, green, and lemongrass. I like that they tend to include “fancier” teas. I love loose leaf tea and it makes things SO much easier when it comes in “bag form” like this. These are 100% organic and both the outer wrapper & tea bag are compostable. Nice!
Fisher Honey Bee Honey Sticks – 3 flavored honey sticks in watermelon, strawberry and pina colada. I’ve never had a honey stick, so I really can’t say much about ’em. Plus, I’m vegan… Soooo… These will probably be going to Mike.
Dang Toasted Coconut Chips – OH. MY. WORD. (I’ve been watching “Jon & Kate Plus 8” a lot lately…) These are freakin’ amazing. I mean, I figured I’d like them, since I do like coconut… But damn. I almost ate the whole package in one sitting. One weird thing about them though — They kinda (well, totally) look like an old man’s toenail clippings. F’real. Kinda scary. Don’t let that stop you from stuffing your face with ’em though. Seriously, go get some. Just close your eyes while you eat ’em. 😉
Rip van Wafels Caramel Filled Amsterdam Waffle – These have eggs & stuff in them, so I wasn’t able to try them. My parents happened to be over when I opened my box of goodies, so I gave this to my mom. She took it home, so I’ll update this with her “review” once she tries them.
Torn Ranch Chocolate Chip Cookies – Again, these aren’t vegan, so I couldn’t try ’em. BUT my parents did tear them open while they were here and devoured the package real quick-like. My mom said they were “good, very buttery”. Dad said he could eat a dozen more. He also said they tasted coconut-y, but when I checked the label there wasn’t a trace of coconut to be found. Ah, dads.
Heliotrope Massage Candle – This cute little candle is made with all natural oils and soybean wax. The scent (black fig cardamom) is strangely addictive. I couldn’t stop smelling it. Mmm. I’m not sure what makes it a “massage” candle. I guess you light it and use the melted wax/oil for massaging? Ehhh… I think I’ll just stick to enjoying the scent. It has a burn time of 6 hours, so it’s got plenty of “smell time”.
Here’s the less exciting, but unfortunately necessary “monthly essentials”. The brand I chose (they give you options!) was U by Kotex. I got 10 regular pads, 5 overnight pads, 5 liners, and 2 packets of Midol. Again, you can customize this any way you’d like.
Do you see why I was so excited about this box? I would totally look forward to my period if I got this awesomeness every month! Well, maybe not quite look forward to, but you know what I mean… It would make it a little less awful. 😉

The coconut chips looked yummy, until I started visualizing them are toenails! lol This post made me super hungry. And I think the idea of a massage candle is that the aroma is therapeutic and relaxing. I don’t think you pour the wax on yourself. I could be wrong…
Yeah, as long as you can get past their unfortunate looks, the coconut chips are freakin’ awesome. 😉
I dunno… The label on the candle says “soy makes a great massage oil”… and it’s got shea butter & stuff in it. So weird.
That is weird. I can’t stop chuckling at the idea of doing that. lol
Have you tried PinkCamille? The site is http://www.pinkcamille.com…I heard they are the best so far. It’s only $10/month for 30 items with free shipping and you get ferrero richer chocolates and tea.
