My Vegan Presence package showed up a little later than usual this month. It’s one of my favorite subscriptions, so my fingers were crossed that the contents would make up for its tardiness.
If you’re not aware, Vegan Presence is a monthly subscription box service that features — you guessed it — 100% vegan-friendly products. Items can range from food to beauty to household essentials. You never really know what you’re gonna get, but you can rest assured that it’ll always be totally cruelty-free. (And packaged prettily too!)
Let’s see what I got this month!
Citrus Body Butter by Mystical House – I wanted to take a photo of the product inside this tin, but I had the hardest time getting it open. (Seriously, I was ready to throw it across the room.) I tried twisting, pulling, wedging a pair of scissors under the lid… Nothing worked. So I gave up and just took pics of the labels. According to the info sheet, hiding inside is a body butter made of all natural coconut/jojoba/argan oils, shea/coconut butters, and essential oils. I’ve got a stockpile of body butters & lotions, so I honestly wasn’t too excited about this one. Oh, and my husband eventually managed to get it opened. I was kinda over it at that point. haha (Retail Price: $10.00)
Global Organic Teas in Rich Vanilla Chai – This is an organic black tea blended with a mix of spices and a touch of vanilla. There are 15 pyramid teabags inside of the resealable, foil lined package. One dollar from every bag of these sold is given to a non-profit organization that helps people in need all over the world. (Retail Price: $9.99)
Paper Street Labs Activated Charcoal Soap Putty – When I first started to unwrap this, I thought it was hot fudge. So I’m sure you can imagine my disappointment when I saw that it was… soap putty. Black soap putty. Ehhh. I guess it’s made with activated charcoal (hence the color) and is supposed to be good for exfoliating. To be honest, I would have been a lot more happy with a simple bar of soap. The info sheet/web description says that it’s infused with real jasmine essential oil, but I really can’t smell it. It just smells… black? I dunno. It’s just not for me. (Retail Price: $13.75 CAD)
As I’m sure you’ve guessed, this wasn’t exactly my favorite Vegan Presence package. I think I would even go as far as saying it was my least favorite. Value-wise, it was certainly worth the cost of the subscription, but the products just didn’t do it for me. Ah well, I can’t love ’em all.
Vegan Presence is only $20/month (purchased at $60 for 3 mos) or less with a 6-month commitment. You can also buy a trial box for a one-time cost of $23. Shipping is always included. If you decide to sign up, please let them know that Wendy Rose (or 2 little rosebuds) sent you! 🙂
Disclosure: I purchased this subscription on my own. I was not compensated in any way. All opinions are my own. Post may contain affiliate links.

Yeah, I’m sure most people would find the products “useful”, they’re just not my thing. Of course if there was a tub of fudge in there too, I’d be a lot less bummed about the other stuff. 😉

I got pretty much the same thing in my box except that my soap putty was a different sent (I got “lime gingergrass” which my BF and I both agree smells like what many people probably think most vegan food tastes like, and not in a good way). I too have a huge stockpile of lotions and while the tea was nice it wasn’t enough to make up for the fact that I’m a little scared to use the soap because mine is kind of chunky/undissolveable and I’m worried that it will clog my drain…. Yes, I have to admit that I was pretty disappointed too especially since this was my first VP box ever. Hopefully next month is a bit better!

Crap… I never thought of the whole “drain clogging” aspect. Lime gingergrass actually sounds better to me than the pot o’ blackness that I got. 😉 I’m definitely hoping next month is better too. And that it has something edible. Fingers crossed for a cookie. 🙂
