July Peaches & Petals review time! If you’re unaware, Peaches & Petals is a subscription box that sends you a curated selection of jewelry, accessories, and beauty products every month. Each box will typically contain 3-6 handpicked items (usually more) which can include scarves, hats, earrings, necklaces, bracelets, rings, watches, dry shampoos, eye makeup remover, nail polish, eyeshadow, blush, pampering products like mud masks, skin restoring gels/creams, and more.
Everything "else" that doesn't fit neatly into the other categories.
Photo credit: Associated Press Thanks to the big record-breaking winter (autumn?) storm that hit the Buffalo area last week, I’m way behind on my subscription box reviews. I haven’t gotten any packages delivered and I can’t really review what I don’t have. (I’m not that awesome. Not yet, anyway.) Luckily, when it was all said and done my neighborhood only got about 7 inches of snow. Other nearby not so fortunate areas of the city/’burbs got over 6 FEET. In-SANE! My brother-in-law was actually stuck on the thruway for over 8 hours. With no signs of getting rescued, he had to tunnel through the […]
After nearly two full years of growing it out, my husband has decided to shave his beard today. I’m sad to see it go, but once I learned of the (adorable) infestation situation… Well, I knew it was time. Farewell, beard. Farewell, chicks.
I did a bit of blog maintenance over the weekend and tried to make it a lil’ more organized. There’s now a handy dandy drop-down menu for all the reviews I’ve done. (See photo above) Every box/product that I’ve ever written about can be found in one (or more) of those categories. There’s also a separate category for product reviews, in case anyone’s interested in non-box stuff. The “DISCOUNT CODES” tab/page hasn’t changed and still lists any current box deals/codes. All boxes with discounts are noted as such under the “REVIEWS APLENTY” section as well (marked with an asterisk). The site’s […]
Okay, so I already did a “Top 10” list of V-Day gift ideas for kids, moms & dads… But what about a list just for vegans? I mean, I’m a vegan, sooo… It only makes sense, right? Right! Oh, and you totally don’t have to be vegan to appreciate this stuff. Promise. The only criteria I used for the products on this list were: 1. They had to be vegan (duh) and 2. They had to be things I’d like to receive myself. 😉 Alright, let’s bring on the vegan-y goodness!
Oh, snap! There’s less than 4 weeks until V-Day! Have you procured suitable gifts for your loved ones yet? (I haven’t! haha) I thought I’d take some time to hunt down some fun Valentine’s Day gift ideas for everyone on your list (if V-day “lists” are even a thing). Enjoy! Gifts for the kiddos: Melissa & Doug Sweet Treat Tower – I would have LOVED this when I was little! I was obsessed with anything food-related, especially treats. I noticed the Melissa & Doug cookie set around Christmas time and really wanted to get it but was able to resist… This […]
I’ve never been much of a sports fan, so I really don’t give a rip about this whole “March Madness” thing. To be honest, I don’t even know what it IS — just that it involves basketball. And pissing me off when they air it during my favorite shows. March Madness, indeed. So with that said, I will share the one basketball-related thing that I DO enjoy. This dumb, yet somehow hilarious (to me anyway) Geiko commercial: I seriously can’t watch it without laughing. (And how awesome would it be to do that to people in the supermarket? BAM! “No Cheerios […]
I’ve always been a fan of Target. I even tried to work there back in the day. Three separate times. I never did get hired though, mainly because I was too punk rock to take out my lip/nose/eyebrow rings. Ah, youth. Anywhooooo… It was only natural that when I found out I was pregnant, I opted to open a Baby Registry at Target. My baby showers came & went, and we received a lot of the things I had registered for. Awesome. All we had to do was order a few more things that we hadn’t gotten. My mom offered […]
My dear husband is 33 today. (He finally caught up with me!) When we met face to face for the first time on a super awkward coffee date at Barnes N’ Noble, I would never have guessed that we’d be married — & expecting twins— a mere 4 years later. It’s been a bumpy road at times, and we’ve certainly mastered the art of “bickering like an old married couple”, but I can’t imagine being with anyone else. Sorry Michael, but unless you have other plans, I’m afraid we have many, many more years of driving each other crazy ahead of […]
Oh, snap! People like me! I’ve been given two nifty little blog awards by luminousvegans. And here they be: I guess there are a bunch of rules & junk that I have to abide by in order to accept these, but ya know, rules are for chumps. haha. However, I suppose I should do something to justify posting these, right? Right. Part of the requirement for the “One Lovely Blog Award” is to list 7 facts about yourself & then nominate 15 other blogs for the award. Well, being that I don’t even follow 15 other blogs at the […]
Last weekend I went for Thai food with an old friend whom I hadn’t seen in ten years. We sat in the quiet restaurant for about two hours, laughing and reminiscing about all of the stupid things we did together when we were younger. At some point we must have gotten a little, um… loud, as the waitress seemed to keep her distance and the other tables cleared out pretty soon after we arrived. Haha! Just like old times… Mai-Ling and I met way back in 5th grade, in Mr. Flory’s class at City Honors School (we were big smartypants-es!). Our […]
Uhhhh… I just found out that “2 Little Rosebuds” is a Gospel Bluegrass song by some guy named Red Ellis. I’m a little weirded out… 2 Little Rosebuds
Yesterday we hit a record-breaking high of 82-degrees here in the Buffalo area — and though I didn’t spend any time outside, I tried to enjoy it the best I could. I opened up some windows & doors and let the breeze meander its way throughout the house. The sunlight trickled in, casting shadows everywhere. The whole house took on a very peaceful, surreal vibe. It was perfect. Most of the afternoon was spent sorting through a 3-foot stack of old Vegetarian Times magazines — clipping recipes and piling them back up for recycling. As of today, I’m 19 weeks […]
I’ve never been a follower of any particular religion. I was baptized as a baby, but that’s as far as I got. With that said, Easter has never been much of a big deal for me. Sure, when I was a wee lil’ whippersnapper, I took much delight in hunting for my basket full of pastel-wrapped goodies & rainbow-colored jelly beans… What kid didn’t? But once I learned that the whole “Easter bunny” thing was a big sham, the holiday just kind of lost its appeal. It went downhill even more once I hit my teenage years & went vegetarian. […]
