I think I’ve just discovered the mother (pun intended) of all mystery boxes!
Ecocentric Mom is a mom and/or baby box that features high quality natural and organic products (many of them vegan!). I’ve been interested in trying them out for a while now, but I knew Mike would kill me if I signed up for another subscription box. Lucky for me, they recently announced a “Mystery Box” for a one-time charge of $25 (shipping included). You could choose from 3 different themed boxes — Mom-to-Be, Baby, or Mom. They promised that each box would include at least $65 worth of products. Um, yeah. I totally jumped on it (good thing I did, because they sold out pretty fast!). I wasn’t sure which box to go with, but eventually settled on the Baby Box.
When the box arrived, I knew it would be awesome based on its weight alone. This thing was PACKED. It was a challenge to get everything into one photo, let alone cram it all into that little box. I don’t know how they did it!
I’m not going to go into too much detail about each item, cos that would take forever and, well, MasterChef is on soon. 😉 But I will list each one and give Amazon prices where I can.
Bathtime Baby – Baby Butter (3 oz) – Moisturizing lotion with an “elegant mixture of the finest ingredients”. Fragrance free. Amazon Price: $8.50
Episencial Soothing Cream (.75 oz) – This is a sample-sized lotion for irritated skin. Fragrance/gluten free. Amazon Price: Roughly $2.00 (full 4 oz size is $11.00)
Branam Xylitol All Natural Tooth Gel (4 oz) – I was SO happy to get this. Now that the girls actually HAVE some teeny teeth, we need to start cleaning ’em. This is all natural and safe to swallow. Amazon Price: $7.05
Oogaa Baby Mealtime Spoon – Soft silicone spoon with a cute little train on the handle to make feeding time fun. Neat! Dishwasher/microwave safe. Amazon Price: $5.99
Bumkins Waterproof Starter Bib – I was happy to get this, since we only have 2 “pocket” bibs right now. It will definitely be put to use soon. Easy wipe/machine washable. Amazon Price: $4.95
Little Green Pouch – Reusable food pouch. Amazon Price: $5.00 ($19.99 for a 4-pack)
Squishy Snak Pak – Reusable food pouch with a cute design. Amazon Price: $5.99
Novena Organic Bearberry Skin Brightening Moisturizer (1.7 oz) – Based on the price on Amazon alone, I’m guessing this is some pretty good stuff! It’s described as “safe maternity skin care” and is paraben/sulfate/phthalate-free. It’s also clearly marked as vegan. Yay! Amazon Price: $35.00
Novena Organic Anti-Aging Mineral Sunblock SPF 30 (2 oz) – This has all of the attributes as the product above, but it’s a sunscreen. Water resistant/chemical free. Amazon Price: $25.00
Maty’s All Natural Baby Chest Rub (1.5 oz) – Petroleum & Menthol-Free. This smells SO good & I love that it’s all natural. We’ll definitely be using this come cold season. Amazon Price: $5.79
Baby Nappy Balm by EcoStore (2 oz) – “No nasty chemicals” are in this balm. It wasn’t available on Amazon, so I checked the Ecostore website and it goes for $5.10
Simple Wishes Breastmilk Storage Bags (6 total) – I don’t know anything about storing breastmilk, so I’ll just go ahead and give you the price… Amazon price: roughly $1.50 (25 for $5.90)
Siliconies Bracelet by Family Bedrock – Non-toxic teething/nursing jewelry for mom to wear. Made from silicone and free from BPA, PVC, Phthalates, Cadmium & Lead. Amazon Price: $9.95
Water Wipes (10 count) – These claim to be “the world’s purest baby wipes”, with 99.9% water and 0.1% fruit extract. Sounds pretty pure to me. Amazon Price: roughly $1.80 (60 count pack is $3.19
Natural Newborn Baby’s Vapor Rub (no size indicated) – More natural baby rub. This smells just as nice as the other brand and is made with essential oils. I’m not sure about the price, but since it’s a sample size I’m going with $1.50.
Babybug book/magazine – This is a sample issue from 2012. I gave it to Everly when she was cranky and she happily played with it for a good five minutes. I had to hide it when she was done because the pages aren’t as baby-friendly as I thought. 😉
Little Pim Spanish “Eating and Drinking” DVD – For babies, toddlers, and preschoolers, this disc teaches more than 60 words for mealtime. Amazon Price: $16.16
Little Pim French Bop CD – Features 15 “favorite children’s songs” all sung in French. Also includes a booklet with all of the song lyrics in French and English. Amazon Price: $16.98
PBnJ Baby Paci Wipes – My girls don’t use pacifiers (well, they did for like a month), but these have a zillion uses so I’m cool with ’em. They can also clean teethers, toys, bottles, sippy cups, hands, faces… you get the picture. Amazon Price: $5.22
Nurturme Baby Food (6 packets) – These are little packets of powdered food that you mix with water, breastmilk, or formula. You can even sneak it into other foods for added nutrition. Amazon Price: roughly $6.75 (8-pack is $9.99)
Bumkins Dr. Seuss Reusable Snack Bag – This is a cute little zippered pouch to throw snacks in for the little ones. Amazon Price: roughly $3.50 (2-pack is $6.95)
Baby Love Soothing Salve (1 oz) – All natural diaper salve. I couldn’t find this on Amazon, but I did find it on another site. The size wasn’t listed, so I’m not sure if this prices is accurate, sooo… yeah. $12.00
Baby Bites Wipes Solution – These 3 little squares can be used to wet 100 wipes. They’re all natural and vegan. Not on Amazon. Rough estimate of this trial size is $1.00 (1000 wipes size is $11.00)
Simply Rustic Soothing Balm – I think I’m pretty set with soothing balms/salves now. This looks like a sample size and wasn’t on Amazon. I’m gonna guess $1.50
Zubky Natural Teething Ring – This is a colorful little wooden ring to help with teething. Hopefully the girls will be into it. They haven’t liked any teethers so far. $8.00 on their etsy site
My True Nature Cushy by Nature Lotion (1 oz) – Great for eczema and sensitive skin. Amazon Price: roughly $1.30 ($15.99 for 8 oz)
Holy crapola is that ever a LOT of stuff!! Total retail (Amazon) price of everything is $197.53! Crazy! Word on the street (er, web) is that they’re going to be selling more of these soon. I just might have to pick up a “Mom” box (or two!). 🙂
