Time to check out the second June 2017 GlobeIn box! — This month subscribers were able to choose from two different themes — “Al Fresco” or “Refresh”. I reviewed the Al Fresco box a couple days ago, so now it’s Refresh time!
If you’re not aware, GlobeIn is a monthly subscription box that features handcrafted goods by artisans around the world. Each month features a new theme with products supplied by various artisans. GlobeIn helps to bring income and exposure to small artists, while introducing you to beautiful pieces of their culture. Many of the products included are eco-friendly, fairly traded, and/or organic.
Subscriptions are $55/month (shipping included), or less with multi-month commitments. — For a limited time, you can save $10 on your first month with any 3-month or longer subscription with coupon code “WELCOME“.
Disclosure: I received this box for review purposes. I was not compensated in any way. All opinions are my own. Post may contain affiliate and/or referral links.
Let’s see what’s inside the June 2017 “Refresh” GlobeIn box!
As always, everything was shipped in the signature green & white GlobeIn box.
A peek inside!
A small info booklet featured full color photos and background information on all of the products included in the box, as well as the artisans who created them.
Kikoi Blanket, Kenya ($25)
The kikoi — from a Swahili word meaning wrap — is a piece of colored cloth traditionally wrapped around the waist and used as clothing. This beautifully made multi-colored kikoi was made by artisans employed by Wildlife Works, an eco-factory located in Kenya. While you can certainly use it as a wrap, it can also serve as a towel, blanket, or sarong-style cover-up for the beach. I’m not totally sure what I’m going to use mine for, but I absolutely love it. (I also like the fact that it sort of resembles a fancier version of the hospital blankets they send newborns home in. 😉 )
Sun Hat, Mexico ($25)
This big ol’ sun hat was handwoven by Mexican artisans using dried palm leaves. It features a built-in strap to hold it in place and has a wide brim to protect you from those harsh summertime rays. I’m personally not much of a hat person, but I could see this being useful while working in the yard (or pool).
Moroccan Tea Glass, Morocco ($15)
It was a little tricky to capture the gorgeous blue-green color of this glass in a photo, because it’s definitely more striking in person. Not only was this piece hand painted, but it was also hand blown from recycled glass. Use it to enjoy tea, coffee, wine, juice, or even as a unique candle holder.
Moroccan Mint Tea, North Africa ($5)
Numi ethically sources their teas directly from Fair Trade Certified tea gardens because they believe all people should be paid an equal wage that supports both their families & communities. This organic Moroccan Mint tea has a sweet spearmint flavor that can be enjoyed hot or over ice.
YSTR Coupon Code
Lastly, there was a discount code for $25 off any purchase from YSTR, a website that offers “ethically made capsules delivered to your doorstep every month”.
GlobeIn totally brought the summertime vibes this month! The colorful kikoi blanket/wrap was definitely my favorite item in the box, though the other items will certainly get used as well. The total retail value of everything in June’s “Refresh” box was $70. 😀 — Remember, for a limited time you can save $10 on your first month with any 3-month or longer subscription with coupon code “WELCOME“.
