December GlobeIn time! Once again I was sent both their standard Artisan Box (reviewed here), as well as their newest offering — the Benefit Basket.
If you’re not aware, GlobeIn is a monthly subscription box that features handcrafted goods by artisans around the world. Each month features a new theme with products supplied by various artisans.
GlobeIn helps to bring income and exposure to small artists, while introducing you to beautiful pieces of their culture. Many of the products included are eco-friendly, fairly traded, and/or organic. Subscriptions are $35/month (shipping included), or less with multi-month commitments. In addition to their standard Artisan Box, they also offer a smaller Benefit Basket for just $19.95/month. Every Benefit Basket includes one artisan-made item, along with a handwoven palm leaf basket.
Let’s see what’s inside the December 2015 GlobeIn Benefit Basket!
As with the regular GlobeIn boxes, the Benefit Basket also featured a sticker with wording related to the month’s theme/product.
The theme for December’s box was “Celebrate” and included a hand-dyed table runner made in Ghana. The info card explained more about the company behind it (Della) and how they not only pay their employees a fair wage, but also give them opportunities to further their education.
The info card/booklet also included photos of the table runner in use.
Hand-Dyed Batik Table Runner by Della Ghana ($35) – Della is a socially responsible fashion line based in Ghana, whose employees are given a fair wage as well as unique educational opportunities. This pretty table runner is hand dyed in a nice turquoise color and features white polka dots with a gray background on the reverse side. It measures 49″ x 18″ and is versatile enough to fit into almost any decor.
GlobeIn Signature Palm Leaf Basket Oaxaca, Mexico ($12) – As always, the box included a handwoven basket made of discarded palm leaves that can take up to 6 hours to hand-weave. Last month, they debuted a square/lid-less version, so I was kind of surprised to see the original circular/lidded version return. (I kind of prefer the lidless ones, since the lids are sometimes a little tricky to get on.) I do like the pretty pink color though!
December’s GlobeIn Benefit Basket was great for celebrating/entertaining. The table runner would make a nice addition to any holiday spread. Plus, the retail value was well above the monthly subscription cost. Nice!
If you’d like to sign up for the GlobeIn Benefit Basket, you can use coupon code “TRYBENEFIT” to save 35% off your first month’s box with a purchase of a 3-month subscription!
