Hamptons Lane is a unique subscription box that features a new selection of kitchen tools, artisan foods, tabletop items, and recipes every month.
Each box will introduce a different theme which spotlights a specific region, food, skill, ingredient, or activity. The themes are announced beforehand, so if it’s not something you’re interested in you’re free to skip that month’s shipment. You can even choose to substitute it with a past box from their shop.
Subscriptions are $47/month, but you can save $10 on your first box with coupon code “subscription10”.
Let’s see what’s in the July 2015 Hamptons Lane “Gatsby Cocktail Party” box!
Everything was shipped in a big (and quite heavy) blue box.
A peek inside. Let the party begin!
The box featured a full-color information booklet packed with recipes, party tips, and more — everything you need to host your own Gatsby Cocktail Party!
A 2-page spread featured photos of all the items in the box, along with descriptions and suggestions for their use.
Hamptons Lane Duo of Mini Cocktail Shakers – We don’t currently own any cocktail shakers, so I was happy to receive this mini set. Each piece is made of stainless steel and consists of 3 parts: a cup, strainer, and lid (which also doubles as a .5 oz measuring unit).
Lavender-Lemon Simple Syrup from Royal Rose Syrups – An award-winning small batch organic syrup with citrus and floral flavors. This is featured in many of the recipes in the booklet, including “Daisy’s Daiquiri” cocktail and even “Lavender Cakelettes”.
Hamptons Lane Wooden Cocktail Muddler – I’m new to this whole “fancy drink” thing, so I had no clue what this was when I opened the box. A mini baseball bat, perhaps? Yeeeah… no. It’s a wooden muddler to “crush citrus & fruit together with sugars & bitters” to give your cocktails “big, fresh flavor”. Now I know!
Hamptons Lane Citrus Twist Peeler – Nope, didn’t know what this one was either… Turns out it’s a citrus twist peeler used to make those fancy citrus peel garnishes. I honestly had no idea that such a tool existed. I’m learning so much! 😉
Ginger Lemon Bitters from Hella Bitters – A bottle of handcrafted bitters made in Brooklyn, NY. This is made using both dried & crystalized ginger and real lemon peels for a serious burst of flavor. Recipes utilizing this include an “F. Scott Gin Rickey” cocktail and “Lemon Ginger Bitter Macarons”.
Gold Cocktail Rimming Sugar from Dell Cove Spices – Fancy gold sugar crystals provide the perfect finishing touch to the Gatsby-themed cocktails!
What a neat box! Hamptons Lane provided everything you need for pulling off a great little cocktail party. — Just add the alcohol & some music and you’re good to go! I didn’t do a cost breakdown, since so many of the items were Hamptons Lane exclusives, but I’d say it’s a pretty good value based on everything that was included.
