Hole in Wall Box is a new travel subscription box that sends you a collection of local goods from a new destination every other month.
Each box will feature a different city and contain an assortment of locally produced items that you can’t find elsewhere. Many of the products will be sourced from mom & pop shops, farmers markets, and local restaurants. Items can include homemade food items (candies, chocolates, baked goods), candles, soaps, spices, condiments, spices, lotions, and more.

December’s featured location was San Diego, California!
The info card included a list of every item in the box, along with brief descriptions and retail prices for each one.
Maw ‘N Paw Caramel Kettlekorn ($3) – I was fully expecting this to have dairy ingredients (because caramel), but to my surprise it was totally vegan! I’m a huge fan of kettle corn, but have never had caramel flavor… It had the same satisfying crunch as the traditional recipe, but with a lot more sweetness. It was almost too sweet, but that didn’t stop me from the devouring the entire bag in one sitting. 😉
Bella Vie Candles San Diego Scented Soy Candle ($7) – Yep, the scent of this candle is “San Diego”. It’s described as “A day at the beach complete with surf, sand, ocean and Jasmine”. I’m always happy to receive candles in subscription boxes and this is certainly no exception. It smells SO good.
Nibble Chocolate ($6) – Oh, hello there vegan chocolate! This organic bar is made with just two ingredients: cocoa beans and cane sugar. It features single origin beans grown on sustainable farms in Peru using fair trade practices.
True Gentlemen’s Jerky ($7) – Ah, if only this was vegan too… Thankfully(?) I have plenty of beef jerky fans in my family who’ll be happy to take this off my hands. It’s a Korean bbq flavored jerky produced without hormones, antibiotics, or nitrates. It’s also gluten-free and includes dental floss (ha!).
Oats & Honey Facial Soap Bar ($7) – There wasn’t a label on this soap, so I have no idea who made it… I do know that it smells lovely (kind of rosemary-ish?) and according to the info card is made with “a blend of ground oats & pure honey”.
Oaked Arrogant Bastard Ale Chipotle Hot Sauce ($6) – I couldn’t find much info about this sauce online, except for the fact that it’s made with Arrogant Bastard Ale (which was kinda obvious anyway). Also, that it’s not for the weak. Challenge accepted!
Hopkins AG Lime & Sea Salt Roasted Almonds ($3.75) – Premium nonpareil almonds roasted with lime and sea salt. No oils added. These had a nice flavor, but were a little too salty for me.
The Intuitive Kitchen MJ’s Market P.C Bar ($4) – This vegan/gluten-free protein bar is made with puffed cereal (millet, rice), organic sunflower butter, organic brown rice syrup, dates, apples, raisins, pumpkin seeds, flax seeds, agave nectar, and vanilla extract. It was chewy, tasty, and quite filling. 🙂
I really enjoyed the first offering from Hole in Wall Box. It’s fun to receive regional subscription boxes that aren’t just food-based. The candle and soap were fun inclusions. I also love the fact that so many of the products were vegan-friendly. (Yay!) Overall, a great box of San Diego based goodies!
