As soon as I saw April’s Ipsy bag (as in the bag itself), I was sold! I almost didn’t even care what was inside. Almost.
If you’re new here, Ipsy is a beauty subscription that sends subscribers a monthly “Glam Bag” full of cosmetics and beauty accessories for just $10/month. When you sign up, you take a “beauty quiz” to determine your likes/dislikes, makeup preferences, etc. This helps Ipsy learn which products to send in your Glam Bag. Each bag will contain 4-6 full sized and deluxe sample sized products from top cosmetics brands.
A lot of different variations are sent each month, so you’ll see that other subscribers may have gotten totally different products than you did. Hopefully your beauty quiz answers match you with products that most meet your needs… But honestly, even if you only like one or two of the products, for $10 shipped it’s still a pretty good deal.
Let’s see what’s in my April Ipsy bag!
The bag – LOVE it! I’m used to getting vinyl/nylon pouches from Ipsy, so seeing this cute textured/woven one was a nice change. It’s fully lined and seems bigger than any of the other bags I’ve gotten from them so far. Definitely my favorite “part” of this month’s offerings.
Hikari Blush in “Tango” ($15) – First, this blush isn’t nearly as hot pink as shown in my photos. It’s more of a peachy/coral pink (you can see the actual shade on their site here). Second, it’s full sized, which is awesome. This one product alone pays for the entire bag. I use blush daily, so I was happy to receive this until I saw that it contains parabens. Honestly, I’m sure I have other makeup that has nasty stuff in it that I never thought to check… So… I guess I’m kinda undecided on this one.
Mullein & Sparrow Tinted Lip & Cheek Balm ($10) – Okay, now this is a cheek stain I’m down with. It’s made with all natural, vegan ingredients AND it smells like orange chocolate. Score!
TheBalm Cosmetics Nude Dude Eyeshadow Single in “Fit” (~$3?) – It looks like this shadow is only sold in large palettes, so I guesstimated the price. This is actually a lot smaller than it looked in the spoiler photos, but I kinda like the size (makes it “cuter”). I also dig the packaging. There’s a hidden magnetic closure that keeps the shadow protected and the artwork/design is super fun. If it sounds like I’m more excited about the actual package than the product… you’re right! (What can I say? I have a lot of eyeshadows.)
Theorie Argan Oil Ultimate Reform Hair Serum (~$4) – Okay, I know argan oil is supposed to amazing for your hair. I know because I’ve gotten like 8632 argan oil products in the last few months thanks to subscription boxes! Enough already!
Starlooks Satin Finish Lip Gloss in “Cuddle” (~$4) – Again, my photo doesn’t represent the exact color of this gloss… It’s less coppery than it appears and is a more of a peachy beige shade. (You can see it on their site here.) I rarely wear lip products, so this will probably go into the trade pile.
For the first time in a while, I’m actually pretty happy with my Ipsy bag this month. The bag itself totally sold me and I like the lightly tinted vegan balm. The eyeshadow is cute and I should be able to get a few uses out of it. The other 3 items are kinda “meh”, but the ones I like are totally worth the cost of the subscription alone. The total value of all of the products this month comes to roughly $36, not including the awesome bag/pouch!
