Ivy Kids is one of my favorite children’s subscriptions so I was excited to find out that they were offering a Christmas “mini kit” for the holiday season. The kit is a one-time purchase (no subscription required) and sells for $24.95.
If you’re not aware, Ivy Kids is a monthly activity box for children aged 3 through 8. It was founded by a certified early childhood educator, turned stay-at-home mom who had begun creating her own activities in order to entertain and educate her kiddos.
Every Ivy Kids kit contains more than 10 activities, along with a book which all of the activities are based upon. The games, projects, and crafts are all designed to “develop fine and gross motor muscles, build math and literacy skills, encourage reading comprehension, and promote scientific thinking”. All of the materials you’ll need are included right in your kit, as well as instructions and age modifications for each project.
Subscriptions are $38.95/month, or less with multi-month commitments. — You can save 20% on your first box with coupon code “IVY20“! (Reminder — this limited edition mini-kit is only $24.95!)
Let’s see what’s in the Ivy Kids Limited Edition Christmas Mini-Kit!
Instead of their usual big green boxes, the mini kit was shipped in a smaller white one featuring a holiday message on their logo sticker.
A peek inside! (I was sent a sibling pack, which is why there’s two of everything. Standard boxes will receive one of each project.)
As with the monthly boxes, all of the activities were listed on the inside of the lid along with photos of the materials included for each one.
A separate sheet included step-by-step instructions and additional photos.
“The Night Before Christmas” by Clement C. Moore – I was so excited when I found out that the mini kit would include this hardcover book! I’ve been planning on starting a tradition to read this to the girls every Christmas Eve and this version is great. The book is full of beautiful illustrations by Mary Engelbreit that just SCREAM Christmas (for kids, anyway). Love it!!
Snowman Photo Frame Ornament – Using their coloring instruments of choice, your kiddo can decorate this snowman frame and tuck a photo of themself inside.
The girls opted for jumbo crayons for this project, which may have not been the best choice.
The finished snowmen! I like how both girls took a very minimalist approach to the scarf and hat, but went crazy on the body. Clearly a twin thing. 😉
Make Your Own Santa – This kit came with pre-cut foam shapes to build your own santa. Glue was provided to complete the craft.
Last step — gluing the eyes.
I love how both girls did their own thing with the boots… and faced them in opposite directions. One of santa’s coat cuffs went missing (the guy on the left), but we found it during cleanup.
3D Christmas Tree – Decorate all sides of the paper trees with stickers and assemble for a festive 3D decoration.
The completed trees!
Wooden Santa Scene Display – Using the included markers, your child can color the wooden sleigh, reindeer, and elf. Once decorated, use the provided stands to prop them up.
I think the girls had more fun taking the marker caps on and off than the actual coloring… Unless of course they were coloring on the other’s project.
The finished scene(s). Pretty? Hey, they’re only 3. 😉
Make Your Own Ornament – Using the air-dry clay, your kiddo can make an ornament of any shape to decorate and hang on the tree with the included pipecleaner.
I let the girls play with the clay for a bit and then asked them what kind of ornament they wanted. Evie said “carrot!” (she has a stuffed carrot toy that she’s obsessed with these days) and Chloe went with a kitty. We still need to paint them and I have to try to poke a hole in kitty, but they look cute so far.
Stuffed Reindeer Toy – A little stuffed reindeer was also included just for fun. He has little velcro strips on his hooves so you can hang him up.
We had so much fun with this limited edition Ivy Kids mini kit! I LOVE holiday-themed boxes so this was perfect. The crafts were fun, the book will be enjoyed for years to come, and the ornaments will be a nice keepsake to hang on the tree each season. Love it!
