Time to check out the August Pretend Play Projects box from My Pretend Place! My girls love this subscription and always look forward to seeing what’s inside when we open up the familiar white box.
If you’re new to them, The My Pretend Place Projects box is geared towards children 3 to 8 years old. It contains all of the materials needed to complete a new pretend play item each month. They actually include enough materials to make 2 of each project — perfect for siblings or friends to join in the fun.
Subscriptions are just $15/month and shipping is free. While the My Pretend Place Dress-Up subscription ships quarterly, the Pretend Play Projects box is sent every month.
Let’s see what’s in the August 2015 My Pretend Place Projects box!
Once again, the materials were all shipped in a small box wrapped with brown kraft paper. — Makes it feel like we’re opening a gift. 🙂
A peek inside.
Included was a letter from Chef “Brock O’Lee” (HA!) inviting your child to participate in a My Pretend Place cooking competition.
Chef Apron & Hat Project – The main projects this month were to decorate a chef’s hat and apron. Easy enough!
No-Cook Play Dough Recipe – A simple recipe for play dough was also included.
The materials included 2 aprons, 2 chef’s hats, and a packet of 6 crayons.
Four assorted cookie cutters were also provided for decorating the aprons, or using with the play dough.
My girls enjoyed coloring the aprons after I helped them trace some of the cookie cutter shapes.
I don’t know why my photos turned out so grainy/blurry, but it’s still pretty clear that they enjoyed their new chef’s hats. 😉
Aw, my sweet lil’ chef! Her hat should have been adjusted/tightened, but I think she preferred having it fit loosely — easier to play peek-a-boo that way.
Also included in every box are themed stickers and a plastic handle to turn the shipping box into a suitcase or dress-up chest for continued pretend play.
I thought this month’s My Pretend Place Projects Box was more fun than July’s, but I still felt like there was something missing. Maybe they could have included a little tub of actual Play-Doh, or some sort of pretend food project to go along with the theme. Still, my girls did enjoy decorating their hats & aprons and we’ll be able to re-use them (the aprons) for dress up and/or craft time.
If you’d like to sign up for the My Pretend Place Pretend Play Projects box, they’re offering new customers 30% off their first box! Just use coupon code “pretend” at checkout. I believe this also works for their Dress-Up Box (you can see my review of their latest Dress Up Box here)!
